I'm very close to give this a whirl. I studied the P-car DIY and Bob's additional instructions and feel that the only real challenge will be the rears--getting the bolt out, loosing the four 13mm nuts at the top, etc.
One thing that seems to be missing from the DIY instructions is the torque settings for refastening all of those nuts/bolts.

A couple weeks ago I finished installing Gert's HD's and M030 springs and sways. The job was much more labor intensive than I had anticipated, and as a result, took two full days to complete. However, I would not consider any part of the job as hard-to-do, just lot's of work!
The least-favorite part for me was transfering the plastic mounting devices from the original front shock onto the new.
Bottom line: it's a straight-forward job that takes quite a bit of time to do.
As for the alignment, I could not find any shops that could do the kinematic-toe adjustment, so I had to without. Does anyone know how important it is to set the kinematic-toe?
Driving impressions.
I only got to drive it for one weekend due to the weather, so it's not from a deep-well of experience. The ride has definitely improved since my old shocks were completely shot with 43k miles on them.
Handling is improved too, but compared to my stock '02 Z06 ( 2:31 at Road America), it's not in the same league. Although the 993 has more road-feel, it has nowhere the cornering ability. Maybe after more seat-time my tune will change; we'll see.
Aesthetics.
No more looking like an SUV; worth the price of admission on that point alone!

Those little plastic bits are a little bit of a pain to transfer. The easiest thing to do is to get a new set for both fronts and have them installed prior to your planned transformation. This is what I do in the shop. They are about $10 or so a side for all three pieces. I have the part numbers listed on my tip sheets for the HDs as well as the PSS9s. If anyone wants me to get them for your installs, I can... Let me know.

Not cheap, but good tools rarely are.

Bob's advice to buy the plastic holders ahead of time is a good one. You may be able to salvage the old ones but not worth it IMHO. Only thing I wish I had done the first time was to lubricate the new sway arm bushings. Pain to have to go back in once the job is finished.

I searched for the original suspension group buy thread but can't find. Can someone
point me to it please ?
Is there a place where there are comparisons between the various options on suspension
upgrades for 993 ?
How much was the group buy for the M030 RoW and Bilstein HDs ? I mighta been interested.

Looks like the install will be a DIY/shop process. I work for a Ford dealer, and spoke with the service manager, and he's going to let me use a lift, and have one of the technicians(I'm thinking he's got some good tools too!
), watch over my progress and help out if neccessary in between his normal jobs. This DIY might not be that bad after all!
