New head unit
Hi everyone
I'm looking to change the head unit in my 993, and have had some good advice from the forum, but I've been looking around for a few weeks now and the choice is endless.
I don't want anything to flashy as it won't go with the car. I have a sony in it at present that looks ok. But I want MP3 and WMA if possible and 2 preouts.
Nothing to pricey though, I looked at Becker but they are a bit dear and no WMA.
Has anyone got any ideas, pictures inside their car etc, as I'm getting a bit feed up with looking. The car has a red interior so perhaps red illumination would be good.

Alpine make some of the best head units IMHO. My model is a couple of years old but plays MP3 and WMA and I found a lead that plugs into the multi-changer plug at the back that plugs into the headphone jack of my iPod.
The latest models allow you to control your iPod from the head unit, or you can buy a module for the older units.

Hi RayM, just some advice; don't buy Alpine if you are gonna use the receiver a lot. Bad and poor reception. Just my 2 cents.

My new Nakamichi cd-400 head unit is on its way. Great OEM look. 24-bit dac vs. 1-bit for Alpine.Aux inputs. For audiophile sound quality I highly recommend Rod Birch at Car Audio Innovations. He will give you great advice. No affiliation.

I went with the Alpine head with built in XM Radio!!!!! Love it as I hate all of the commercials. I recently got the 60 GB iPod and have since loaded over 5000 songs. Now I need to see how to run this through the head unit....
