Twin Turbo NA conversion while keeping orig. deck spoiler
Has anyone seen the April '05 Excellence yet? They've got an article about a Sleeper 993 - a wingless twin turbo. See page 104. It was done by Turbokraft in Phoenix on a '95 993 C2. The conversion lowered the compression ratio from 11:1 to 8.5:1, includes twin Garret GT-series ball bearing turbos by while retaining the original decklid and retractable spoiler. Pretty stealth, eh? 4.0 psi is at about 320 hp; 9.0 psi is at about 370 hp; 12.0 psi is at about 390-395 hp. I wonder what the conversion specs would be on the '96-'98 cars with Varioram? . . . or would that just be a non-issue by the time you do the conversion? They say parts alone are about $17,000, and it's about $30,000 installed. Anyway, interesting article . . . and food for thought.
OK, OK . . . putting on the flame suit now . . . waiting for all the "just sell and buy a real 993 TT". I find it interesting for those who want the 2 wheel drive, non wide-body car, and original look w/o a rear wing . . . and for those who must have an open top.

Just got to read the article about the red wingless turbo, looks fabulous! The air-to-water intercooler is a great idea, well done, and for anyone who thinks the 993Turbo spoiler ruins the classic 911 look, it's well worth it.

Scott, you do not want Varioram with a turbo. You do not want to be pressurizing different lengths of intake piping. You want this as short as possible from the turbo to the valve. Reality dictates a throttle body and a couple of things in the middle though. The TT uses essentially a '95 intake setup. And there is a 2wd conversion kit for the TTs so that you can get that feeling. Just no narrow bodies or topless ones.

Yup I read that article. My overall impression was that it was a monumental waste of money. Didn't he spend like $30k on the turbo upgrade? For a Frankenhacked car that doesn't even have the performance as a cheaper stock 993TT? IIRC they don't really know what kind of power it's capable of but I thought it was less than a stock TT (did they even turn the boost up or were those just "estimates"?). The whole thing just seemed totally illogical to me.

Got it re: the Varioram issue. But no NB or topless TT conversion??? Go ahead . . . burst my bubble.
Does that mean this 993 cab with Protomotive TT conversion is just a ? ? ?
I hear that he's runnin' at 570 hp.
