Default Ugly Duckling is molting and becoming ...

A Turtle!

I'm getting excited now! Ryan from Jongbloed came by last night and he and Rich put on two "test" wheels with tires mounted to ensure a perfect fit. Ryan now has the measurements and they will now custom cut the wheels to fit my car and bodywork. Some photos they took last night...

Looking better now:

The front:

The rear:

Now that we know the wheels fit, the body comes back off for painting and the final steps start. Extra thanks to Ryan at Jongbloed, it's nice that they came out to the shop to do the fitting and are willing to work with us to ensure a perfect fit. These wheels, while massive, will weigh less than the Cup IIs they replace. The marketing claim is the aero design help with brake cooling too.

Jongbloed wheels. I'm not sure of the number 305 or 311 aero. I just noticed my typing sucks and I need to correct the spelling in the post above ...

It's going to be a beauty when it's done. Great of those guys to be so hands on with your car. Can't wait to see the final product. Keep posting pics often.

Update: Dissassembly for painting is beginning and painting scheduled for W-F this week! The "new" Turtle will hatch next week so I'm getting a tad excited!

I also just bought an enclosed trailer so I no longer have to worry about windows in the doors. This allows me to have the doors gutted and the motors and glass removed. Basically, everything that can easily be removed will have been. Further weight reduction will get much more expensive and be much more effort. I'm anxious to see where we end up next week.

I was also lucky enough to see it yesterday - amazing looking. Phenominal transformation.

I'm sure Tom will post pics after he returns from the inaugural track days.
