Kirk- As for the rated power & torque differences between 1995 and 1996, don't think too much of it. There's more car-to-car engine variation than the rated difference. Oddly, the performance of 993 engines varies quite a bit, and the only theory we have now is cam timing settings. At a 993 dyno day a while back, 9 cars were tested and varioram versus non-varioram cars had the same average power & torque. Go figure.

Fully agree that the extra HP of the '96+ may only translate into a few tenths of a second around the track with an very experienced dirver however.... Guess I didn't want to be "short" in any way and wanted the most HP / Varioram so shopped for 96 + cars. Actually like the basket handle though, adds a unique / classy touch to the cars. Agree with earlier posts, best car = best condition not year.

The 1996 parts are marginally, if any, better, and I don't know of anyone who's spent the few $$thous just to update their 1995 parts. Just doesn't happen.

I was looking at a Guards Red '95 C4 a few weeks back and noted some discolouration (I think it was a yellowish hue) in the headlight lenses... could that be a problem?

Lerxst,
Due to being plastic, the headlight lenses all turn a bit yellow after a few years but they are cheap and easy to replace. Don't let that influence your desicion on what otherwise would be a great car.

I was told that it would not fit. Call MA Shaw or Getty Design to be certain.

Me thinks the '95 C4 will be worth more as a collector as it's numbers are around 820 built in 95
Justa few more than the Turbo......
No unruly handeling issues at the track here

I would have to say that in my opinion a late model 95 C2 coup (no basket handle) in Grand Prix White, six speed with a black interior is your best choice.!! The fact that this is the exact car that I own has nothing to do with it!!
And I will telly you a secret that few outside of Porsche know.
