But if you want a Non-Turbo Factory Wide Body then the 96-97 C4S or the 97-98 CarreraS aka C2S. I could be incorrect on the C4S they might go all the way up to 98.

I 'have' to keep my 89 right now because it has become a 'hobby'. IE: It is in 10,000 pieces as I rebuild it. Replacing the entire clutch setup, changing out the pistons/cylinders. Etc.

I happened to be looking at some 993s with a friend, when I saw the matching twin to my car. 1995 red on black C4. So it left me drooling to think of a car that was in one piece. I expect my 964 will probably be apart for the rest of the year.

I'm happy to hear everyone likes the 95s. I have to admit the C4S is awfully sweet. Very Very wide compared to my 911, but this car has me tempted because its a private sale that is nearby, and I looked at the car and it seems to be in great condition.

Anyways,
Thanx for the input!

Kirk

Looks like you've got a heck of a DIY on your hands Kirk. Good luck with the project.

don't forget about the 95's rear suspension geometry issues. if you plan on tracking the car i'd say go for a 96 or a 95 but be prepared to replace a bunch of the rear suspension's parts. do a seach on pca.org under the tech section for rear geometry under the 993 area.

I don't think there are such flaws existing which justify a "optimal year". A well maintenanced 993 is "best" irrespective of age. You cannot compare this to the 964 evolution (the 993 is the final evolution stage of the 964), where Porsche had to learn about the M64 engine. For example, the missing head seals on the first M64s were omitted because Porsche was scared about cooling with the twin spark plugs and wanted to lead as much heat to the cooler cylinder as possible. After first experiences in Cup racing they decided that it would not be necessary.

Varioram adds some torque below 4800 rpm or 50 % throttle due to the longer intake pipes. In every other situation it is exactly the same two stage intake system like on the 95.

1 mm larger valves on the 96+ add the few more hp, which is neclegible in the real word.

Best regards,

Felix

That is, search for condition first, along with you most treasured options/colors, then look for year (unless, of course, your most treasured option is OBDI).

Relax, I was just joking.

Default rear suspension issues fro 95 993?

Andy T

what are the rear suspension issues for 95 993?

wasn't it just the recommended factory rear toe settings that changed after 95?

Thanks Leland. That's my 5 year old who is also my garage buddy. That shot shows a lot about her personality. She loves dad's car because it doesn't have kid doors, the engine is in the back and the trunk is in the front. She also points out every Porsche on the street much to my wife's amazement.

Get the 95 save the money for modification. 993 are all excellent cars across the range.

I'm just going to have a body shop fill the holes... either welded or matting/filler. I don;t care how they do it... I just want it gone.

But, because I'm moving to Germany, did I mention I'm moving to GERMANY?, I need the third brake light to pass inspection. So, I'll have to find a '96+ high mount 3rd brake light.
Also, have you guys seen the fellow on the 944 board who had rear wiper delete caps made? I also want to ditch the rear wiper. It's just ugly... and I never use it.
