I feel like i'm spending more time and attention to detail picking a 993 than i did picking a wife...
Good call. You can still drive a 993 just as hard after 14 years

[QUOTE=dcdude68;7078978 We do take some of the squirm out of the front end with Walrod poly A-arm bushings, but again, that's not steering,[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the plug!!

Not directly, but this bushing kit does have quite of an effect on the toe control of the front end of the car!!

Essentially, if you ever have the opportunity with your 964/993 on an alignment rack, toe lasers 'on' -- pry on the forward control arm bushing and watch your toe settings -- I think you'll be amazed at what dynamically is happening.

Funny, I have noticed (twice now, 2 different cars) that new tires exposed an issue with the control arm bushings.

Just put new tires on my turbo and the car had a bit of a vibration at around 50mph. Checked tire balance, no problem. Checked the bushings and they are shot. Lots of movement on the forward bushing...

Control arms are off of the car now... waiting for the time to install your bushings Chris.

Holy ancient thread Batman!

In my order of preference:
1. Suspension-At least Bilstein HD's/H&R or M030 Springs/Turbo Sways/Strut tower brace
2. Lightweight 18" rims and sticky tires
3. LW Flywheel
4. Re-Chip
5. Complete exhaust re-do with cat bypass

Mine:
1. suspension
2. g50/21 or g50/30.

The rest is great, when operating as designed and in intended condition.

Geez.

Im heading up 30+ modifications but if I really had to draw the line at just fiv across the categories of "cosmetic", "performance", "handling" and "convienience" these would be them (in no particular order):

1. HID
2. Gerts FPB
3. RSR
4. 18" light weight alloys with good rubber (choose your style)
5. Optik option (oval exhaust tips and airbox)

Top three in each category:

Performance:
1). LWFC
2). RS SSK with golden rod
3). Steve Wongs or Steve Wieners chip

Handling:
1). Bilstein HD/PSS10 with Mo30, lowered
2). Light weight 18" alloys with sticky rubber
3). RS anti sway bars - adjustable

Cosmetic/Sound:
1). RSR or similar performance muffler
2). OEM Optik kit with oval tips
3). Techart brake duct fog light kit

Convienience:
1). Auto lift driver window kit
2). HID for low beams and fog
3). Gerts FPB

3. Wheels (not yet found the "ones")
4. Big reds turbo brake system
5. Sound "super-extra-boom-boom" system

Better late than never................. Good luck

I would not enjoy driving any 993 without:

1- XENON
2- Porsche 3 spoke steering wheel
3- ROW suspension if you have a US version

993 upgrades are like chips, you can never have just 5. That and the preference of vehicle usage comes into play, I like the angle Macca took. With autocross in mind, some of the better upgrades if you want to stay out of super street mod imo:

1. Moton's or PSS10's
2. RS Sways
3. Control arm bushing from Mr. Walrod
4. SSK and Golden or platinum rod from the FD Motorsport folks
5. Seats and Harnesses

And if you don't mind SSM please feel free to get the EVO hub carriers, EVO tie rods, and that G50/32 you've always dreamed about

1. Chip (Wong)
2. SSK/GR (FDMotorsports)
3. HIDs (Gert)
4. Cans (RSR)
5. Suspension (Bilstein HDs & RoW M030 Springs/Sways)

I probably would've placed the suspension work higher on the list but my car came with the setup above so I've not experienced anything else.
