Top 5 "Must Have" 993 mods
In my search I am quickly learning that all newb's like myself are looking for bone stock cars. Seasoned 993 owners have several mods done that they know every newbie will want done shortly after getting a 993. That being said, whats mods are "must haves" and what are some that are a matter of personal taste and may not be right for everyone?? What should I be looking for?

All a matter of taste... but being a newb myself and doing a little research, my first mods for my 1996 C4, when I get it, will be:
Vertex 6000K HIDs: $225 group buy
Performance intake: $378
Performance exhaust: haven't looked yet
EuroBumper Conversion: haven't looked yet

Here you go:
1. suspension upgrade; i.e. - M030 springs and M030 front & rear sways with Bilstein HD shocks; or Bilstein PSS-9's with up-graded sway bars
2. 18" light-weight wheels
3. louder mufflers & Motorsound airbox cover; i.e. - RSR mufflers
4. LWF/RS clutch
5. HID/Xenon headlights

I agree closely with ibdavid that the MUST HAVES are:
1. New suspension (Bilstein PSS9s or Bilstein HD/M030 or Bilstein HD/H&R, etc. and sways)
2. HID headlights (4300K...definitely )
3. Remove Engine Tray
Everything else are Nice Haves. The suspension to me is the ONLY TRUE must have.

That's it.
The other pimpy show off stuff and cosmetic stuff if you're into that but it doesn't add to performance.

I'd have to disagree...HIDs/Xenons make night driving a whole lot easier.

Most everything I've done to my car (in no particular order). Take your pick & set your own priorities
GO:
Porsche “Rest of World” (RoW) M030 springs & sway bars w/HD Bilstein struts
Porsche G50-21 Euro gearbox w/LSD
Porsche LWF & RS clutch/pressure plate
Brey-Kraus stainless steel front strut tower brace
HID Xenon H1 headlight conversion (Catz)
SHOW:
Porsche factory “Big Oval” polished stainless exhaust tips
Porsche 18" ‘02 Carrera Lightweight 5 spoke wheels
Aluminum "racing" pedals (AJ-USA)
Porsche factory “Euro” TT front bumper cover
Porsche clear “Euro” front turn signals
Rennsport shift ****
Car optioned w/full MS package (M159)
[no stuck on carbon or shiny things]
FUNCTION:
Front Protection Bar (Carnewal)
Bird center armrest
Turbo S style front cooling ducts w/integral fog lights (MA Shaw)
Hard wired, remote V1
Console GDO switch
I've got nothing left on my "to do" list.

Just got mine 6 months ago and here's the plan, in order- Exterior paint clean, wax, detail ($60 DIY), Interior clean and leather conditioning ($40 DIY) Clean all the c*** out of the wheel wells and suspension and spiff it up in preparation for new suspension ($40 of de-greasers and cleaners DIY). Lower w/ Bilsteins/H&R's ($2-$3K to get rid of the Paris-Dakar look and make it feel right), Motorsound Airbox cover (only because it's <$100 DIY and it sounds alot better), Rennline dead pedal to save unsightly wear on beige carpet ($80 DIY), some version of a splitter (around $500, incl paint, DIY install) or Euro front bumper ($1500) and don't forget a skid bar ($200 DIY).
