Same here - I'd be interested in seeing this first hand and help out in any way.

Cool! We all will have to show Robin how to install the mufflers

Seriously, we could get together for a good ole SoCal engine drop-beer drinkin-bench racing get together.

I'd be up for that. I know I'll have to do it in the future & would love to see how it's done. Please let me know if y'all decide to do it.

Ok... so here is the plan....
We can split this into a several weekend project... But first I need to prepare some stuff first.

(1). Need to fabricate a trolley to move the engine around
(2). Need to get all the parts I may need
(3). Need to clear up my garage for more space.

This is what I am planning to do...

(1). Drop the engine
(2). Do all the maintainence work (spark plug, distributor belt, cap rotor, PS belt)
(3). Change the clutch
(4). Change the RMS
(5). Change the SAI
(6). Figure out what to do about a cross threaded spark plug (Right from the factory like this)

Possible top end rebuild?

Anyways, I assume this would be a several weekend project.....

I can provide room and board... and of course all you can drink wine, beer and steak

ROTFLMAO

Thanks for starting off a hump day with a good laugh.

I meant to say...

"EAT" steak...

With this grill in my back yard I can easily feed bunch of hungry grease monkeys... :P

That is quite the list of "things to do," Robin! ...especially the clutch and RMS. Sounds great, though, and would be glad to contribute to the beer/wine/steak supply. And I am no stranger to the grill, either.

Just a dumb question. The wiring is :

1, ground from chassis to bolt holding starter in
2, yellow trigger wire to small lug on solenoid
3, large black insulated wire (runs through chassis) and smaller red wire bundled with several really small red wires to large lug.

Is this correct? The wiring diagram is a bit difficult to follow, but this looks correct.

Default Tip

Old thread, but t I was having trouble going over the top to gain access.

i removed the bracket that holds down the large positive wire. It gave me full access and didn’t require any elbows or wobble extension.

I struggled for 30m going over the top, and after removing that bracket and pulling the wire aside a ratchet fits easily.

If I recall, I used a 12" straight extension right after the Allen socket, then a wobble, and then a shorter extension to angle down slightly and then the ratchet. I put them in in that order as well.

Shadow and 95_993,

from your post, sounds like you broke loose the top bolt from the side (with left arm, feet toward the rear of the car) of the trans, NOT from over he top, correct?

i too found more room to work with on the side (left arm) and just want to confirm. Still unable to break it loose yet but will try again. I don’t know how you can do that from the over the top of the trans. There’s absolutely no room to even turn the rachet.

thx

I use the extension combo I mentioned above along the top of the starter and then down slightly towards passenger side. Working mostly from the passenger side wheel well. Don't remember which hand.
