Disabling spoiler
I have searched past threads and found 2 options for disabling the rear spoiler so the light on the dash does not come on. one method I found was to unplug the unit in the passenger side footwell and the other method was to jump the wires. I have attached a picture of the module under the passenger side dash. will unplugging this do what I want (disable the rear spoiler and light). I am replacing the decklid with a TT tail. Thanks for the clarification.

Sorry to hijack the thread here, but is there a way to RETAIN use of the manual spoiler switch to move it up and down, but DISABLE the automatic deployment of the tail? Right now I've been pressing the manual button down for a second and up for a second in order to get around this, but I'd like a more permanent solution - I like keeping the tail up most of the time, even at low speeds.
Thanks!
Thanks!

But I thought if you raised the spoiler manually before reaching 50 mph it will remain up even after you have stopped the engine? But will reset the next time you start the car again until you go through that 50 mph - 0 cycle.

On my 95 I found that pulling the plug on the footwell unit disabled the cruise control. I have never seen this mentioned on any of the threads, so it might be unique to this car. Last weekend I built and installed the jumper option and reconnected the footwell speed unit. Now I have the cruise control operational and no spoiler light.

Don't have that problem on my 96 after pulling the plug. Would be interesting to see the schematics on the 95 and 96 to see where the difference are.

I would like to hijack for one question....when I start my car the red spoiler warning light comes on and stays on until I start moving, when it goes out and never reappears again until my next engine start....is the same for everybody.....

That's why I got the RUF spoiler control module for my C4S. It eliminated the rediculous up and down around town but did raise it at around 75mph. A great mod, I thought. They don't offer them new anymore from what I understand, so if you come across one, snap it up.

Yes, they should all do that. I think the light kicks off at 2-3mph IIRC. It's in the manual.
I have a '95 and the cassette under the dash is for the spolier and had zilch to do with my cruise control. When I purchased the car I had a fixed wing and the PO had unlugged the module and the switch and light never came on. I also think when the PO re wired the 3rd BL, there were only the red & Black wires for power and ground hooked up. He had pulled them out of the clip in the engine bay. I have since put it all back together, wired it back and plugged the module in and - Voila all works fine again.
