Real Power Gain, or Real BS?
I read this in another site:
"A mechanic friend of mine can easily add 10% to any car of he can have access to the spark plug wires. He says a lot of energy is lost in the engine, and he wires the spark plugs together somehow. The net effect is increased lower and midrange torque and horsepower and a more efficient use of the engine energy giving a 2 to three gallon increase in fuel economy. He did this to my turbo Z and the difference was shocking! Costs about $50 including the wiring and labor. If some of you can tell me how in the world one would work on an engine we can't see, I would be more than happy to provide more details from him when I get them. The mod actually increases the life of the engine and is very simple. I'm sure you guys can do it yourself of find a mechanic friend that could."
Does anyone know if this is real, or real BS? I have never heard of anything like this myself, but then that's not saying much.

BS if you ask me.
If a "mechanic" has found a way to provide 10% more power with less fuel for $50 including labor, he'll be working with NASA by now, or living retired in the Cayman islands from the proceeds of his patent.

CP,
I smell BS. I can't imagine some free horsepower and gas mileage sitting out there, and the car manufactuers not taking advantage of it. I don't believe it. I reeks of those little "turbine wheelie" gizmos that make the same claims.

Pure, 100%, unadulterated BS........ The twin plug heads we 993 owners already have is how the Porsche engineers already did it..... and that aint gonna cost no $50 for a single plugged car....

Someone added the following to the thread:
"He is referring to a grounding kit...which is quite beneficial to turbo cars (as they generate alot of static moving so much air). Also, it aids in starting and idle quality as it eliminates alot of the disturbance to the ignition system. On a Naturally Aspirated car...the gains are ZERO in performance, but it does improve idle quality and starting ease. If you dont believe me, spend the money and have dynos done before and after installing the grounding kit."
I have not heard of this either. More BS?

Whoever wrote this is probably the same marketing guy that works for Fabspeed.
