Default Wheel offset more on the right?

See the attached pic. Is it normal for the wheels to stick out slightly more on one side of the car than the other? I have verified the wheels are consistently off to right side of the car; it’s not the angle of the camera.

All 4 wheels have an offset of 55 stamped next to the valve. I see no spacers mounted to the rotor. I had all the tires off last night and they all torque fine when I put them back on.

I came to this after looking closely at the left rear wheel. When you follow the car it looks like the left wheel is leaning in more than the right one. I now think it’s an illusion as a result of the left wheel being set further into the wheel well than the right one. I checked the left and right rear tires with a level and they both have the same amount of lean into the top.

Looking at the front wheels they have the same amount of "imbalance" between the left and the right as the rears. From the pics you can see the front and back tires are "square" to the body.

No wrecks per Carfax…

Typical of these "handmade" cars. Earlier ones were even more noticeable.

I like the "boat tail" 993.

Greg's wrong; your car is completely screwed up. I've never seen a car so badly tweaked.

I'll give you....$20,000 for it since it's such a huge job to fix it.

j/k All is well. These cars are known to have some left-to-right differences.

Yes, this is definitely an issue but most 993's have a right side that is tight to the outside fender than the left. Mine had the same issue, wish both sides were like my left side, lots of room on that side front and rear!

As the rear bumper is plastic it may bend in a little more on one side than the other as well. Yours looks to bend out a bit more on the left hand side?

Cheers,

David

I agree - there appears to be a bit of a bulge on the left photo that seems to cover the tyre a bit more. If it wasn't there I think you'd see the same amount of tyre on both sides.

Greg is totally right. My 930s had a difference from side to side of about 13mm at the fender lips. When we were trying to repair a fender after an "oops" we couldn't get it right. I called PCNA and they said that the tolerances on the hand-made cars were "flexible." I think that it is endearing! It shows the 911s ties to it's lineage of old-world craftsmanship.
