Default Autozone pads ok?

Ok, the pagid oranges on the street were ok for a while, now am ready to go back to stock till spring.
Have the OEM ones ready for the back, none for the front. Any prob using the types of pads Autozone sells? Even better they come w/ a lifetime warranty!

I am only half kidding when I say "Autozone" and "Porsche 993 Twin Turbo" should never be used together in the same sentence.

Try looking on TireRack.com They have some Mintex brake pad sets on the cheaper side and at least you are getting somewhat of a brand name.

I'd stick with the OEMs as the brakes are one of the 993s strong points. I've never had good luck with DuraLast / semi-metallic on any past cars - but that was some time ago.

Also, you should consider the fact that many "Lifetime" warranty pads "are" Lifetime warrantied because they are hard as diamonds and wear out the rotors instead of the pads. And rotors on a TT are not cheap. Just something else to consider.

Is that a Carrera GT in your avatar?

Is my memory failing or did Glen say that he ran Autozone pads on the track...and would exchange them under the lifetime warranty?

Can't find his post and too busy to spend much time looking but I'm pretty sure it's out there.

Mark, you have a very good memory.... your search skills suck, though.

Thanks, Kelly. I was in a hurry this afternoon and couldn't do a search-and-destroy perusal.

I really need to try out those Autozone pads.

Mark,

Is that an updated picture of your car? Looks good. What wing/spoiler did you use?

Thanks, George. It's the ubiquitous RS 3.8 wing.

Mark,

Do you have any larger pics? What did you put up front? Also, are you running in "D"? If so, do they allow you to run that wing?

George,

I'm still in D, but the "wing" does not have a leading edge as per the CR requirement. I've, um, modified it so that it passes muster, but I have another idea in the works.

The winglets are from a really cool guy in Pennsylvania named Hugh Dehoff. He was kind enough to make a set of them to fit onto the curves of a stock 993 bumper. They're actually too wide, IMO, but I think Hugh would be willing to produce them in a more narrow configuration. Let me know if you want more info on them.

Yes that's a CGT in my avatar. Still undecided on what to do for front brakes. Leaning towards dropping $120 on some new ones at Sunset.

Also, I would be wary of mixing brake pad brands front and rear.
(That must have been a fun ride in the CGT!?)

I would like to get more info on them. And you have any better pics?

Thanks!
