I'm looking at a 1995 C2 993 white w/gray interior and has 34,500 miles. The car looks brand new inside & out and has an excellent history. They have all of the documents. My question is what is a fare price? They are asking $39,000. The vin# is WP0CA2998SS342696 Thanks for any input.
what a willing seller and buyer will agree to..that is fair. If $39,000 is the asking price, you can always come in lower, especially if you have your finances in order, cash or great credit with no trade ins.
Withthe 1995 cars, there are no no hassles with Secondary Air Injection (SAI) and Check Engine Light (CEL). These have been problamatic on some 96 to 98 cars. These cars come with OBD II and Varioram (12 more HP and some added mid-range torque). OBD II seems to be a bit more sensitive to smog issues. Although the HP of the OBD 1 car is 270 HP...you can always chip it for that added 15 HP.
I have to disagree with "too high." If it is, indeed, the best one out there that fits all of YOUR criteria in options, color, etc, AND the PPI checks out perfectly, how is it better to pay less for something that doesn't measure up to what you want? The question of "too high" is relative to what's available and what you're looking for.
I'd say between $34 and $35K...on the other hand, I have to agree with Edward... "too high" does not exist...it depends on how badly you want it...my guess is...for $35K you'll most certainly take this baby home...good luck and don't forget to post pictures if you close the deal...
Depending on who "they" are, $39k is not likely the real price at which "they" will part with the car. If it is the right car for you, go after the best price at which you can get the car....and you have found the "right price".
If the convertible top is in excellent condition, I would say the car is worth about $35k if its what you really want and completely checks out. Good luck
Forum,
I want to thank everyone for there input. I did forget to metion that it was a convertible. The person (they) that I'm purchasing it from is my father. The car had the wiring harness recall done and the other great part is that it has very little rain time on it. Thanks again. Imracerx
Your father?!!!
Heck, should I assume, then, that you know everything about the car and how it was cared for? If so that's a serious plus. Is he the orig owner?
Of course, "fair" price is between you and him, but you can always show him some comp prices to see what he says, IF you're comfortable with that of course. Good luck as it sounds like you will get a great car.
He is the 3rd owner of the car. He just replaced the top and fix little nick in rear right wheel which was a 1/16th of inch. He also just painted the lower front bumper due to a few little rock chips in the paint. I guess the price of the car says what the appearance of it looks like. Thanks for the input to make my decision.
