Default Knock offs vs OEM

I am looking at buying a set of 17" turbo twist wheels. The part number off of them is as follows:
Front wheel is 996.362.124.00
Rear 996.362.128.00
Made in Italy.

I am was told these are Porsche OEM solid spoke wheels off a 996. How can I tell if they are Porsche OEM wheels vs knock offs?

Thanks

If no one on this board knows, you could check with the 996 board.

look for the offset by the valve stem. Knockoffs dont put it there usually

sound like knockoffs to me... afaik Porsche never made 17" turbo twists. maybe you're referring to the normal "twist" wheels, not the "turbo twist"

If they have these part numbers stamped on them, they are definitely OEM wheels.

I was correct - these are the STANDARD twist wheels, not "Turbo Twist." The part #s you provided are correct, so they are factory wheels. Here's a picture:

Smart move editing your post. These rims were, in fact, standard issue on the 996 from 99-01.

you say that as if I was wrong or something - I was 100% correct, Porsche NEVER made 17" turbo twists. They made the "Carrera Twist" in 17"

I edited my post to include the possibility that he was actually talking about the latter.

Boxters also have similar rims in 17" ...don't know if they carry a 996.XXX part number, though. And a Porche p/n tells you immediately that it is OE, not aftermarket.

Shawn / others,
I have a set of these exact wheels that I removed from my recently-purchased '95 993. Apart from a few marks, the wheels are in excellent condition.

The rear version is labeled: 996.362.128.00, 9"
The front version is labeled: 996.362.124.00, 7"

I have not taken the time to shoot pics, but will if anyone has interest. My intent was to sell the wheels and tires separately, but there may be someone who could use the whole package.

The rear tires are SO3s with ~3,200 miles on them (Seattle to Baltimore).
The front tires are SO2s and are heavily worn on the inside from an incorrect toe setting that was noticed after the aforementioned journey... The rest of the tread is still deep.

I will let the whole batch go for a very reasonable price, as I've already replaced these with 18" Technology wheels and Sport Contact 2s. They are just taking up space now.

Not trying to hijack

Andreas
