WOW - thanks everyone!!! I did not realize that the V1 was so well preferred!! I can now order this in confidence. It also seems that I get the remote display option. This will help provide for added discretion.
Thanks again everyone!!!!

Got my second V-1 last week just in time for this weekend's tour in my new 933. Already saved my bacon from an un-marked stater with constant radar on in approaching traffic on a two lane highway. Plently of ample warning... over the rise and around the curve. Time to send my old one in the 87 Cab in for upgrading.
I also would be interested in a group buy for my wife's BMW.

I purchased both a Passport 8500 and a V1 for the 30 day free trial... running them together simultaneously. Over those 30 days, I found the V1 to false quite a bit. Plus it’s bulky, 1960s looking electronic box-like look didn't do it for me. So, I purchased the 8500 and saved what I thought was about $100.
Fast forward a few months. I wanted to direct wire the 8500 (the wire wasn't included for $299)... $29.99 plus shipping. Ok, still saved $65 or so. More importantly, I have noticed that the warning range for Ka (the local PD’s favorite band, and increasely many others) is not all that long. I probably have less than 5 seconds before the radar hears me.
In retrospect, I think the V1's sensitivity may better sniff out Ka band well in advance of the 8500. I suspect this 5 second warning buffer may someday let me down.
Keep me in mind for the group buy.

p.s. How about those Bengals.... first 4-0 start since the wheel was invented! Not really but sure feels like it.

I have a Passport 8500 and you can buy the direct wires for about $10 each, though they don't include the little blue remote led. I love mine. I paid about $285 for it new. In VA, where we have to be a little stealthy about mounting our detectors, I got the blue display and have been very satisfued with it. Unfortunately, my SC is so loud that I can almost not hear it when it chirps. With the 993 it's a little more audible.
