Default radar detectors

Hi
I am in need of a radar detector and need some help in sorting this out. There are many ads out there for a variety of radar detectors. Each detector claims it is the best one. THrow the hype out. from practical on road experience- I was wondering what your on road experience and recommendation would be??? I welcome any advice.
thanks
Herbie

Only one choice, Valentine One. It's not advertising hype about the arrows on the display - they give you a great deal of information on the sources of the radar, unlike others.

I have had my Valentine for a year now and I cannot count the number times that it has saved me from about a ticket. The directional arrows are great. Only beef I have it is hard to tell what band is being detected until you get use to it. My buddy has the Escort with the digital display, seems nice but two weeks ago on the way home from Thunder hill as I passed a Radar cop that had someone pulled over I could see that there was another radar up ahead. Can tell where the signal is coming from with the Escort. The arrows really help when you run into the double radar traps.

I have no regrets and would recommend to anyone. BTW the first Carrera GT I saw had one so you know even people that can affort any radar detector by it.

V1. Best detector, and as important, best knowledgeable service with SW/HW upgrade capabilities without buying new unit.

In case you needed another vote.....Valentine One.

Have taken several highway trips running my V1 and my Boxster friend running his Passport - I consistently get an EARLIER signal and am NOT guessing what direction it is coming from.

Just like Herbie, I'm about to get a V1 myself...is there a discreet way to install it without showing to the world you have one? I'd appreciate if you guys could post some pictures of your setups...TIA...

Take care...

Pedro,
My v1 unit is mounted above the mirror, I have the remote display mounted in the ash tray. If you don't have athe trip computer, P-cars dot com as a great DIY for mounting the remote inside the speedo.
