Techron recommendations
For those using techron, how often should this be added to the fuel for routine preventitive maintenance? I have 19k on my '96 cab, no cel, etc.
Also, I have noticed that my lifters seem a little noisy. Any recommendations regarding Swepco 502 oil additive?
Thanks

I'm currently running one through my tank. This is the first time one has gone through this car (26k miles). I will probably add another one to the next tank before my end of season oil change and subsequent hibernation.

Worn valve guides on most Porsche engines past 100K will do a carbon number on the combustion and exhaust areas, so Techron can't solve that problem. But I can see Techron working before the guides wore down, whether or not they contributed to the clogged SAI ports, and in that first 30 secs or so on cold start up when the SAI ports are open. Assuming the one way SAI check valve is ok. It only hurts in the wallet, but it is cheap insurance in case there is any benefit.

David,
I haven't seen too many posts from people that have pulled their engines to take a look AND used techron regularly, Terry might be the only other one? (hopefully others will post? CWalrod?) Had I not pulled the motor and seen it with my own eyes I'd still be using the stuff. Certain experts here on Rennlist have claimed that it works on engines they've taken apart but I've since learned those people don't actually work on Porsches (they just pretend to help sell stuff).

Very interesting post, I used to wholeheartedly believe I was cleaning the valves with every techron tank (once every few thousand miles). But if you pull the thing apart and there are still deposits, maybe it's a waste of money.
Another thought here, the techron bottle says "treats up to 12 gallons," and our tanks are over 18 gallons if I'm not mistaken... would using a bottle with a FULL tank in our cars possibly dilute the techron sufficiently to render it useless? Is there any benefit to increasing the ratio, i.e. one bottle with only 8 gallons, etc?
