Default LWF Help!!!

Just had a LWF installed, now the car stalls. It is a 96 c4, the ISV was cleaned. Also the battery was disconnected, will it just need some time to reset itself, or do it need to do the reset prcedure. the Idle is low about 500 rpm should i adjust the isv or not?

I thought on the 96 and up cars the computer is supposed to compensate, but I would adjust the ISV until you have an idle 800-900 ... 500 is much too low.

I thought the same. There was supposed to be stalling issues. Is there any other way to adjust the Idle, or is the isv adjustment the correct way?

Are you sure it IS a MY96 and not a MY95 registered late? This seemed to happen quite a lot with the 964's in the UK when Porsche couldn't shift the stock of cars made.

I was informed when I did my LFW that anything after 95 was good. Your idle is way low though, mine is about 800....you will find however that you need slightly more revs to get the LFW cars to take off, if you try taking off with too few revs it WILL stall...its something you get used to very quickly and by more revs I do not mean many but you do have to be aware of it.

Good luck, once you get your stalling issue sorted you will LOVE IT TO DEATH

ya it is a 96 with Varioram. It only stalls when coming to a light, or a stop when you let the clutch out.

How many mines did you go after disconnecting the battery? It takes about 30 minutes of driving to get the computer to work right. I hope that is the issue!!

I think some of the problem is your revs at 500...this just seems too low to me but I will let other gurus give the more definitive answer.....

On my previous 95, with the LWF, JohnD fussed with the ISV a couple of times and got the idle up to 900 or so, and the car very rarely stalled after that. That's the way to go, I think.

So there you go, you just need to drive to New Hampshire to visit John D!

This happened to me after ISV cleaning.. it was the wiring loom into the ISV which was not connected properly.

Have a look. Good luck.

Sorry to jump in on this but wait a second, are you saying that I can use the ISV to adjust my idle higher? I was under the impression that there was no way to adjust idle on these cars. My idle is usually around 550-600 and I fel that it is a bit low even though it has never stalled (no LWF yet but still a bit low in my opinion and according to all repair manuals/specs).

How is this adjusting of the ISV performed?

If your idle is around 500 then something is wrong. Try Monique's suggestion before you mask the real problem by adjusting the ISV. On the PelicanBBS it seems a lot of 3.6 transplants have a similar problem as well as a few regular 993 owners and the problem always pops up after their mechanic has the car and no one has figured out (or posted) a diagnosis (until Monique just did).
