Question Motorsound Button???

Hi All,

I spoke with a Porsche mechanic today from California (he just bought my ‘04 BMW Rockster Edition 80). I brought up my 97' C2S and asked for any input on modifications. He asked about my exhaust and I told him I had the Motorsound Package which he said was great but then added something about the button on the center console. I have no button for the exhaust on the center consol! He explained to me that all the C2S’s he has seen with Motorsound have a bypass button. Sounds like a Silent Choice Exhaust for a go fast boat. Does anyone have or know of this option/button?

Also as a side note my wife and I will be moving to El Paso, Texas from Naples, Florida. A very big change! How is the driving out there? All strait lines here but you can dodge 90 yr olds in Crown Vic’s which makes it a little more exciting!

Cheers,
Marc

The 996's have a switch for the Porsche Sports Exhaust but the 993's ain't got no button.
Good luck with your move,

Ha ha, if a mechanic told me that, I'd just turn around and leave. You need a new mechanic!

I saw a demonstration of the 996 system at the San Diego dealership. The tech operated it (while the car was stationary) with a lap top computer, simulating driving conditions. Pretty slick set up actually. Stealthy or throaty at the touch of a button.

IIRC, RUF offered a PSE style exhaust system that could be operated via button. Other than that, your mechanic has been working on too many 996's

If I wanted a silent car, i'd buy a lexus or one of those hybrid things..
