I'm in the process of doing the DIY SAI flush on Pcar by Rob Kwate and have run into a problem. I can get 5 of the 6 SAI ports to flow, but one(passenger side rearmost) cylinder refuses to flow any at all. I can get some fluid to work it's way through, but that is with the pressure raised to about 100psi on the compressor I'm using to pressurize the system.
I have the other 5 cylinders blocked off using rubber stoppers with brackets across them to hold them in, allowing me to pressurize the SAI passages way beyond what is possible if the rubber stoppers are just jammed in the exhaust ports. (kept popping out)
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the last passage "unstuck" or am I indeed up the creek? Hate to give up at this point with the car completely apart... Any and all ideas are welcomed.
Thanks

Perhaps a bore snake along with Hoppe's (or another brand) gun solvent (designed to remove copper, lead and carbon residue)?
(I have to caveat and say that I have not tried this)

David,
I've tried snaking a piece of very heavy duty weed whacker nylon cord (over a tenth of an inch thick) up into the SAI passage. It goes in about 4 inches then stops. I've also tried the othes and they seem to stop at about the same distance. Do you know if there is a 90 degree turn somewhere in the design of these passages? Sure does seem like it.

Hey Kelly...
I doubt if it's your problem, but if you remember my earlier posts I had a problem with my cam housing being plugged with an extra press-fit steel bearing (shop thought it was a factory error). It was stuck in a spot that was plugging two of the ports with carbon, etc.
Good luck.

Apparently I've had success (knocking on wood) cleaning the passages by dropping the heat exchangers (exhaust manifolds), reaming the ports from the exit hole outside each exhaust valve with a length of spring steel wire and spraying Gumout through the straw up into each port. I did not work on the top end or replace the check valve.
Prior to doing this I had a SAI CEL about once a month. Did the job last December and haven't had one since.
Now watch; just because I wrote this up, I'll have a CEL this afternoon. I'll let you know if there's a change.

Or some thicker cable of the same type you get at home depot.

Check here ( http://www.systemsc.com/pictures.htm ) and you'll see the
complexity of attempting to force wires/etc. thru the passages.

Kelly, I have had reports of similar plugs from my wrench as well. He also went to to tell me that he has seen some casings that were blocked from poor casting.
Good Luck

Darin,
Was having P1411 codes. In hindsight, and as a warning to others, I'd recommend the DIY flush earlier than the 62k miles my car has... before your CEL light starts going off. Wait too long and you stand a greater chance of a harder than normal fix than just flushing. Hope this helps others.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Oh yeah... change that SAI valve regularly, too.
