Arrow Needed: Factory 993 Airbox/suggestions on aftermarkeet airboxes

Hey guys! I REALLY need a factory 993 Airbox. I have an aftermarket cone filter on my car. Not a fan. I would love to have a) a factory motorsound box that will fit my 1996 C4S or b) whatever aftermarket airbox you guys recommend! THANKS!

At worst... get a normal airbox and drill it to "motorsound" standard after purchase

Good luck

Aftermarket and/or OEM M/S covers fit on the factory airbox. You can drill holes in a stock cover to mimic the M/S cover. You should be able to get a factory air box from someone that has removed theirs for racing.

just wanted to add my $0.02 - i bought a motorsound airbox cover off eBay, and i am very impressed with it! makes the car sound awesome at WOT, and even just tipping in the throttle produces some nice sounds, i was really surprised in the difference... (95 993 C2)

I also need a stock airbox. If a second person has one for sale, let me know. Thanks.

I have a factory 993 airbox. It is not one from motor sound, so it is a "normal" stock no holes drilled airbox. If interested, PM me. I do want to take pictures so you know exactly what I have.

There are a couple of motorsound airboxes (OEM) on Ebay at the moment if you don't mind shipping. They only retail for about £70 - 80 so you could always get a new one?

Cheers,

David

Does anyone know whether the size or number of holes drilled in to the factory box to mimic the motorsound box makes a difference in sound and or sound level? My factory box is drilled but just two HUGE holes (almost completely cut away) and not to motorsound spec. The sound (combined with Mille Miglia mufflers) has a drone to it that has me questioning whether I should try the facotry motorsound box or go back to enclosed factory airbox?????

Thanks!

I have a stock '97 cover that you can have if you want it. You could try it and if it's too quiet, drill it out to the MS patern. IIRC the stock cover has the imprint of the MS patern on the inside of it.
Are you going to the PCA tech session this Sat. in Escondido? If so I'll bring it with me.

Drill it, better yet cut out the whole section. Mine is cut out (big square hole) and works great. No noticeable dirt build up on the air filter either. Sounds awesome.
