Invitation to Jerry....
OK.
I am convinced that Jerry S. is visiting our little neighborhood in Baywood Park CA.
My wife thinks I am nuts!
I have seen a silver 993 with CA plates that say "LAST 911" running around here a couple of times a year.
Every time I see it I tell her "There goes Jerry" she swears I am crazy.
So here it is.
Jerry, next time you are in Baywood Park, please stop by "Bloom Wine Bar" on 2nd St. Thurs-Sunday and tell them "Brian" sent you and the meal will be on me.

If you're looking for Jerry, think older... I know that if I had a collection of pcars like that, on the street you would probably catch me driving like an early 2.2 S - not the fastest of the bunch, but for feel you can't beat it!
As much as I love my 993, it can never touch the early cars' rawness - every time I used to drive my old 911, it felt like an event, and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Now I get in and it's still special, but something's missing.
Maybe that's just me, could be wrong - his daily driver could be a GT1-97 for all I know

I can't help getting a sense of that, too. While the 996 and 997 represent the pinnacle of Porsche technology without doubt, I don't see them as 911s. I see them as Porsches.
Can you look up the plate number and trace it? I think for some states that is a possibility.

Sorry to burst your bubble Brian but Rick's correct.
Here's Jerry's 993:

Rumor has it that he sold it but I'm not positive. I think he did ruffle a few neighbors when planning to build a 30car garage somewhere in Manhattan.

Hi Brian,
The car is a 97' and is owned by my ex- partner Greg's brother Tony. He lives in Arcadia and travels up there often to visit Greg (blue 96' cab). The 3 of us have terrorized Hwy 1 to Napenthe on numerous occasions, he's a really good driver and the original owner. I've offered him exorbitant amounts of cash for that plate but he's never selling it....

I was afaraid of that.
Well the offer still stands.

When I was living in Europe in the early '90's, the 964 was the current model. I ordered one timed to me return to the states in '93. At that time in Europe, the press was all agog that Porsche was going to introduce a new 911 and use the 993 as it's model name. Hence, no more 911's. When I registered the 964 in the US, my plate was LAST 911. When I traded for a 993, it became the "last of the aircooled". Now the plate is on my 996TT. See my avatar.
So what has it become now? As I've grown older, I've gotten a little more philosophical. So now it's "The last 911 I may ever own as tomorrow is promised to no man".
Cheers,
