Question Remove headlight washer nozzles???

Rufus will be getting new CTR bumpers and the hood resprayed. I've been thinking of having the headlight washer nozzles removed... I'll never, ever use them, even if I knew how. Have any of you done that? Any thoughts?

Even crazier... what about removing the windshield washer noxxles from the hood? I never drive my car in the rain, and wouldn't use them anyway. Are they legally required? I normally leave my wiper blades off for the cleaner look, and I KNOW that is not legal.

Pictures? Anybody?

i say yes to the headlight washers (i was noticing how ugly they are just this morning), but i would leave the ones on the hood for the windshield (at some point you may decide to part ways with rufus and the next owner is likely to want them).

Our host (johnD) has done this (Headlight washers).

Check the 993 DIY forum here:

and you'll find this pic

Most of the race cars I see are w/o the headlight washers. The front definitely looks much cleaner w/o them.
I agree that removing the winshield washers may be not such a good idea.

Wow. That looks sooooo clean. Of course, a white car helps in that regard. I think I'm getting convinced to remove the headlight nozzles and leave the windshield nozzles. Thanks everyone.

What do you put in the place of the headlight washers? Are there plugs you can buy and paint?

Cole,

Interesting thought. I was going to have the holes filled and the front of the fender painted and blended. Something like a "bumper plug" would be simpler, reversible, and cheaper. It wouldn't look quite as clean, however. I will discuss this with the body shop. Waldo has the painted "bumper plugs" for the license plate holes, and they "almost" are invisible, but if you look at the picture of Johns bumper... you can see he filled the license holes as well. Has anybody ever tried a painted plug for the headlight nozzles?

Andy,

Yes! That's what I'm talking about. Very clean. If you don't mind me spending some more of your money... you can use an 'S' front spoiler to match your Aero 2 rear spoiler. Thanks for sharing the picture.

Scott Mellor... are you looking at this?

Damn you , damn you all! OK I'm in!
Oh I just found out that the euro front bumper (turbo-s) will need to have the S lower chin pieces taken off for me to install a GT2 type front splitter. Anybody interested in the S lowers?

Steve - Thanks. As soon as I get this thing off my lift I'll get some better pics.

Scott / Steve - Oh I wish the S lower spoilerwas in my future. I'm actually going towards the RSCS look with the new bumper, tail, skirts etc.

Most Turbo S spoilers are glued onto the standard factory front PU; you may not be able to separate them.

I see a lot of cars these days with the windshield washers mounted on the wiper arm (Renault do it a lot). You could then remove the bonnet washers completely - very smooooth.

I'll remove my headlight washers also.

I was thinking of welding the holes first and then with filler but as I'm afraid of rust (comes from living in a country that uses salt during the winter) I will have them do it just with filler.

Definitely better looking without them and since my car is 993 RSC (RS Clone) and even though I'm not going after exact RS replica, rather 993 RS that I would've done if I was in charge at Porsche, I don't want to have those nozzles since RS didn't have them. Besides, I have RS washer fluid reservoir which doesn't distribute water to the headlight nozzles anyway...
