Brake Rotor replacement choices?
It seems like the only choice for a 1996 C2 is OEM? Aren't there any two piece design replacements for the front rotors? Brembo has a new Turismo Brake Kit that utilizes a larger-than-stock two piece rotor with an adapter kit to make it work with the stock caliper, but i don't see a fitment for a 993. Any ideas?

My idea would be to go with stock rotors (cap painted) or get the brembos from Brumos while they're on sale. I don't do high speed racing stuff, only autox, so I went with stock rotors while thinking this through a few months back. I don't have fade issues and didn't increase the unsprung weight.

Brake article worth reading...
The last two (2) Panoramas have had a brake article, parts 1 and 2 by Alan Caldwell and Bob Gagnon. It is extremely well done as you would expect from these two guys.
The Big Reds, or possibly better yet, the Big Red fronts and the 993RS Red rears, do provide a few advantages...the biggest being that they will stay cooler longer under had useage. They probably won't stop you any faster.
The downside, rotors are about $150 a pop and brake pads (Pagid Orange) are over $400 for front and rear pads.
I have Big Reds on the care because they came with the car (Thanks previous owner!). Would I spend the money and do this upgrade if I didn't have them? Probably not...I'd put the money into a Guard or Porsche Motorsports LSD. Now this mod will make you go faster (around corners!). And isn't that what its all about? Well it is for me anyway. That's my $0.02.

During a conversation with VB last week, parts are pretty hard to come by anywhere now, so I'd get them where you can.
I do have a set of slightly used front and rears, stock ones I removed when I went with TT fronts and RS rears. Virtually no wear on the fronts.

No afiliation, just bumped into them and they appeared to have reasonable pricing.

I think the two-piece rotors are Big Red only (and only the fronts). Unfortunately, they are not a true floating rotor design.
Be vary of rotors advertised as OEM Zimmerman as Zimmerman makes them both for Porsche and for aftermarket. OEM's supposedly are more durable:

The majority of people really don't want full-floating rotors for street use due to noise and maintenance issues.
OEM 993 rotors are NOT made by Zimmerman although they are an OEM supplier to Porsche. There is a big difference in quality (longevity) between the aftermarket, cheaper Zimmerman's and the Porsche factory rotors so Caveat Emptor on that.
FWIW, We only use the factory rotors on these cars. (in stock all the time)
