I had my local dealer selling OEM brake pads for 15% to 20% above dealer retail! I think I was quoted $170. I called Vertex and got a much better price, to say the least.

I was going to call the dealer and tell him I can sell them OEM brand new for $100 a set. How many do you want?

Sometimes dealers are way out of line. Sometimes they work with you. I used to get 20% discounts from mine, then they built a new palace and try to charge me 20% above retail.

20% ABOVE retail!?!? That's amazing. I think that's what the dealers in Chicago are doing too. I've given up completely on buying anything from the local dealer. I just broke a window switch, and when the dealer told me it would cost $60 I said forget it, I'll wait a few days and get it from Sunset for $30. Bastards.

I think Porsche is just catching up with the Mercedes dealers. They've been raising the prices above list for some time now. A friend who works for one gets his parts discounted to 'retail' He now buys his parts off the web.

My dealer charges 10% over retail for over the counter sales. However all dealers have to give a dscount to PCA members. I think it is 10% off but I am not certain. It also give you a discount on labor if you are silly enough to go there.

I just got my 12 x Bosch Spark Plugs FR5DTC from EAS. $3 ea and very quick. Although they have raised the bar on free shipping to $75, but still a great deal even w/paying $5 shipping.

Linh,

You should post the name of the dealer you called so we can avoid them in the future. Lon, I am never surprised by the BS that pours out of a Dealer's pie hole.
