OT: Crazy Ferrari 275 driver in Paris
One of my friends from work sent this link to me this AM--apparently it is in the late 60s/early 70s and this guy strapped a camera to his 275 and went ape**** all over Paris....

Damn...that was idiotic! Crossing all the red lights without even lifting ! He was a lucky SOB for sure, not to mention a big idiot as well... The only great thing about that video is the heavenly sound of the 275...

The Rendevous
The film, correctly identified above as C'ETAIT UN RENDEZ-VOUS, was produced and directed by world class French cinematographer, Claude LeLouch. Rumor has that he was the driver as well. Supposedly, when the film came out, the French police were incensed, and went off to arrest Calude LeLouch. Of course he denied being the driver....urban legend.
As far as him blowing the lights...it was a film afterall, and supposed to be entertainment. We will never know if he had his boys staked out at those intersections with 2 way radios, telling the driver if it was "safe" to blow the light.
The film is only 9 minutes long...I bought it in the DVD format some time back...very enjoyable and worth the $29.95, especially if you have driven in Paris.

Now I know hwere the idea for the Nissan 350z movie "The Run" came from! Very Cool. What ever happened to that '94 911 Turbo 3.6 through the streets of Stockholm? I loved that video!

my stomach tightened at every red light. I don't know whether to applaud the wonderful sound of the engine and driving or be horified by the concept of running through the streets of Paris at that speed. I will give him the benefit of doubt and agree with Martin that he probably had the intersections staked out in advance.

Cool! I thought I'd never see that film, as I can't see spending $30 for a 9-minute movie. Coming up on the arch at that speed is freaky! I recognized the major landmarks in the first half or so - after that I got lost. I wonder if anyone has mapped out the route. It would be possible to calculate rough speeds based on time between known locations.

I've seen this movie a couple of times. Maybe, it's me but it is not impressive as it sounds.
The speed seems to be around 60mph. If you look at the trees and building, they're not passing that quickly. The camera is mounted low which only amplifies the sense of speed of the road, but if you look at the buildings, they aren't passing by that fast.
In addition, the way the car passes the Citroen C2?, the speed differential is small, and we know those regular cars aren't driving that fast.
My most disappointment is viewing the video while having to listen to the engine at full song. Obviously, a Ferrari at full song is going to be MUCH faster than this car is moving.
Overall, I'd give this a 2 yawns out of 5. Impressive in the way he goes through the city non-stop, but not so impressive when you look at the trees and building "flying" by at a much more pedestrian speed. In addition, the sound doesn't match the pace.
