Steve,

Once you have the CTR bumpers and the RUF badges installed, Rufus will definitely be {{{Off Da' HOOK!! }}}}. Here's a little smuthin' smuthin' for you only in blk.

Steve,

I was looking to replace my front bumper wth the CTR bumper as well. But I was concern with the kelvar material (don't know what how durable it is). Is the CTR bumper as flexible as the OEM bumper cover? Thanks

Steve:

Been out for a while and just saw this thread, have not read all of it but skimmed.

I am truly happy for you! The car looks great, and with your little additions, you have a rare and beautiful machine. Congrats!

I'm getting really jazzed about this project. I've already ordered a new personalized plate for the car, so (Calif) "993 TWIN" will be available someday.

Tony,
"kelvar"... seems to be a way of charging outrageous prices for stuff that feels like fiberglass. So your concerns about flexibilty are well deserved... the parts are not flexible like the factory urethane. I will expect some crack repairs and resprays in my future.

the ruf bumper cover does look great though i wonder why they decided to go with kelvar...the nose of my car sorta takes a beating so i am glad it bends rather than breaks...

Thanks Steve. I guess I will just have to look at RUFUS and drool.... because I love the CTR looks with the side vents. My car sits pretty low and will hit 50% of the time

It's probably a kevlar/fiberglass blend. Kevlar is stiff, but it is much stronger than fiberglass. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Mark,

Thanks for the correction... it is "kevlar" and not "kelvar". I think its much like carbon fiber type material.

kevlar... the stuff that's in the strongest boat hulls made, not to mention bullet proof vest . should be lighter than the o.e. too. why the hell did they ever take it off?

I think the price of any RUF will be all over the place. It's worth a lot to enthusiasts who know what a RUf is and are willing to pay for the joy of having one. To most others, it's just another Porsche.

Kind of like art. How much is a Picasso worth? Huge to someone who knows what it is, $20 at the local flee-market.

If I need to sell my BTR, I'll just have to wait patiently for the right enthusiast/buyer. In any case, Steve bought at an excellent price. The PO had a much better deal, but he probably belongs to the 'most others' side of the aisle. Wish we had been in the game when he bought it. Amazing the original owner who did the conversion was so generous with disposing his assets. I guess that's life, just can't win them all.
