Darn...and these are expensive... The seats probably then are worn that is why you feel them differently. For comparison, the seats on my cabrio with 40K miles were night and day to the seats the Meanie came with at 80K miles. The Meanie seat was obviously worn so it was softer than the cabrio seats....

I wonder if a good upholstery shop can "restuff" the seats to make them snugger. I have a small frame, and I'm wallowing in Rufus' "barca lougers".

Steve, can't wait to see the Ruf in person. I had my check strap fixed for about $50 by REBS Specialties - a race car fabrication shop in Reseda 818-345-7040, 7032-B Darby Ave. They did it while I waited (about 15 minutes).

Thanks Fred... do you think that's a better deal than leaving my car with Chris for six rough "testing" weekends?

Rufus can't seem to catch a break... failed the smog test due to readiness codes. Smog levels were great. I think the battery was recently replaced. I guess I'll try the referee station. Argh.

First coat of Rejex is on. Car is looking pretty good. Lots of little projects to get it better. The Ruf bumper/splitter should arrive tomorrow. I hope its repairable.

Steve;

My battery was disconnected a couple of weeks ago when I had the front end repainted (rock chips). I had the readiness codes checked last week, and sure enough, they were not ready.

Last weekend, I found an empty business industrial park and ran the drive cycles outlined on Rennlist at various times (also on Steve Weiner's website), and had them checked again today, and they were fine. I then had the car smogged immediately. The drive cycles can be a pain to complete (I only had to run 1 stop sign), so it maybe easier to visit the Ref. Just wanted to let you know that the readiness codes can be fixed by carefully and patiently following the necessary drive cycles.

Good Luck

Hal,

I'll see what the referee has to say... if I can get a wiaver I'll take it.

The Ruf front bumper arrived today. Its actually in nice condition... very easily repaired. Weissach in Vancouver is not a Ruf dealer anymore, and they had a few rear bumpers left over at a decent (in Ruf-speak) price, so I ordered a rear bumper as well. Yehaw. Ruf-ville, here I come!

Steve,

When you say a RUF rear bumper, are you referring to a Turbo S tail, or a different RUF tail (like CTR) all together?

CP,

I've got the CTR front bumper, and just ordered the CTR rear bumper. I still need to find the a-piiler gizmos and I'd like the "S" frront ducts, but without lights (a bigger opening). I don't know where to get those ducts.

Steve,

I have the A-pillar gizmo in my RUF. I believe RUF in Dallas has those. You can call Wayne at RUF 888-783-6872, ext 1571.

Do you have a pic of the "S" front duct you are looking for? I have a hunch that CEC in S. CAL may be able to help, especially if you can send them a pic. Call Mark Carillo of CEC at 310-767-1111. He helped me big time with my TechArt brake cooling duct/fog light combo.

Good luck. Can't wait to see more pics of your RUF. When do you think you'll be all done? BTW, is Waldo a done deal?

A little paint, and this will be good as new!

Hey Steve,

That's the Euro bumper! No bumperette cut-outs.

CP,

Waldo is not a done deal until the fat lady sings. I'd say we're at 95% done. The potential buyer is a valued Rennlist member, but I still made him send me references and send pictures of Waldo's new home. Sigh. He's getting one hell of a car for a hell of a good price. No way I would have sold it unless Rufus came along. I'm still not sure I'm doing the right thing, but with the body work on Rufus, I'll be pretty happy.

Dallas has a nice black Turbo R conversion with 32k miles... for $115k. Makes Rufus seem like a steal, since the conversion is only 12K miles old. Sure, the chassis has more miles, but I'm happy with my purchase.
