Default 993 vandalised!

Got back from work this evening to find that BOTH door mirrors have been stolen from my 993 C4. Needless to say I'm not very pleased and am now looking for secure garage space (the car has been sitting on the street in central London since I bought it in May). Luckily no damage to doors themselves.

Just a quick question: Can anyone give me an idea of how much two teardrop door mirrors + the glass + painting will cost?

One advantage is that I am now less nervous of driving through narrow London streets!

Replies much appreciated.

I think that I saw Porscheshop (UK based parts company) advertise both OEM and replicas for very good prices but I would check with one of the Rennlist sponsors first (unless none are in the U.K. where it would make more sense to source them from considering the savings on shipping, duites, etc.).

By the way, keep your eyes out for degenrates driving older 911s with newer mirrors (especially if they're too dumb, lazy and cheap not to paint them properly).

What a nasty thing to do to someone. It's actually amazing to think just how easy those are to steal if you bring a single hex key.

Sorry to hear about this. I had to deal with something similar a year or so ago. You can read about it here:

Good luck.

Glaffy, I think you got away lightly. At least they were removed with out damage.

Budget for around £250-290 for mirrors + paint (est £160-250) not cheap.

When I parked my bike last time in London it got keyed down both sides of the tank and tail unit. I had to ride hop with it staring at me! Little bastards.

Many thanks for your replies; obviously not an isolated incident. Oddly enough, there is another 993 (a 2S) that was parked about 20 feet from mine and that was left alone.

I do have a garage space where my Jensen Interceptor is kept (car is worth about £5,000). Perhaps I ought to put that on the street and the 993 in the garage... only to watch the Jensen dissolve into a heap of rust come winter time.

There is a set of aero mirrors on Ebay with a buy it now price of US $319. Sorry, but I don't know how to post a link. The mirrors appear to be ocean blue if that helps.

Good Luck.

Since you are in the UK and I assume probably have a right hooker, if you are looking to buy used mirrors off ebay make sure you get the RHS version as they are different than the LHS version for US cars.
