Default WTB - low mileage Speed yellow 6spd 993 C2 Coupe

I'm in the process of selling my 997S so I may as well put the feelers out. Always wanted a SY 993 since first seeing one on the cover of "Original Porsche". I would concider taking a car in trade if mine doesn't sell outright also.

Would concider other colors with the exception of Arena red or guards red.

Thanks!

Huh? What happened? Selling your brand new 997? Why? Getting one of our old, ancient 993's instead ? I like it , your decision that is, but why? Styling?

I'm afraid I haven't warmed up to the 997 styling as it still looks exactly like a 996 to me with some 993ish updates, but I'm just old school.

Good luck in your quest.

Several reasons, but yes, styling IS one of them! I've always thought the 993 is the most beautiful Porsche ever and I find myself wanting to have two (well, until I sell my 964, three actually) cars. My 997S is a great car and is unbelievably capable on the track, but I want a dedicated track car built for that purpose alone. I also want a dedicated street car. If I sell my 997S I can have both, get the 993 I always wanted (wow, I can put a new XM/NAV/DVD in it!) and get track car/trailer for the same $$$. Trying to be a "little" frugal for a change..

It is beautiful but it is about $11K more than my maximum for a non-turbo 993. Maybe i'll drop them a line, never know.... there are TWO of them there, the one with all the yellow trim is awesome. They are off the wall on pricing though. About $15K higher than all the cars i've seen on DuPont or Autotrader with around 20K miles. Maybe they will deal, but somehow I doubt it..

Thank you!

Oh my gosh that RPM car is NICE!!! That's the exact car I'd want if I had the personality for yellow and the additional bucks.

See the second one with all the yellow trim inside? A bit much, but have to see it in person I guess..

On the second sy coupe it has 'special chassis rigidly tuned' on the option list-is that window sticker talk for mo30, or something else?

Wow, just for the fun of it I ran Kelly and NADA on a 1998 993 C2S with 15000 miles, using Avg retail and Avg Private party value. I picked EVERY option, including factory Aero kit, in excellent condition.

Kelly Retail - $39,205
Kelly Private - $33,985
NADA Retail - $39,450
NADA Avg Trade in - $ 34,925

Now I don't mind paying a bit more to get exactly what I want but $21,000+ more? I DON'T think so...

I've been looking for a '96 - '98 widebody for the past month and haven't seen any cars advertised even close to the prices listed above for a low mile car. In fact, I haven't seen one advertised for less than low $50's...has anyone else seen prices like these?

Go on autotrader, you will see a LOT of cars with mileage around 20K for mid to upper 40's. Don't get me wrong, I would pay $50K +/- for the right car but $62K is ridiculous. My 2005 997S with 8000 miles is only another $12.5K!!!

Default useless

are Kelly BB and NADA...Edmunds is slightly better...in.the aircooled Porsche world you get what you pay for...High Line auction prices for 993s have jumped up since Feb.'05

I drove a 997S Cab. for a day....great car...But holy Cow the MSRP was $108,000....for the $100,000 price point, I 'd rather go with a'03 or'04 996TT, With Warranty

Yeah, they are useless until you sit in front of a dealer trying to sell/trade your car, then all of a sudden they are law.. You can BET RPM didn't pay over $40K for either of those cars...

I have been looking pretty intensely this past week and $45-$50K for a nice low miles 993 is quite attainable out there, and mid-upper $30's for a 50K +/- good car's are abundant also.

The search continues, the 997S has several offers on it already (after one day on the block!).

Anyone know about a 96 SY Coupe out in Topeka, KS (at least thats where reverse phone lookup says it is)? Very low (13K) mileage. Have not seen any pictures yey and my emails to the owner (to request some, and info) have gone unanswered so far.

Thanks!

You are right about the "stealers" in general, however I know from a good authority that RPM pays top dollar for the cars... Still, like Berkley said its about demand and supply. Recently there has been a jump in prices especially in 98's and widebodies. Finding an S with 15K on the clock in the condition of the RPM car and getting it below 50K I think its utopia in these days and only the uninformed seller will make such a mistake of giving the car away.
Just my 02.
