Finding an S with 15K on the clock in the condition of the RPM car and getting it below 50K I think its utopia
Danny's right about that and about Ray paying top dollar. I've dealt with Ray at RPM although I was lucky enough to find another car at slightly less than what Ray would have charged.

My 1997 SY C2S has 13,600 miles on it and there is no way I would sell it for what I get the opinion Gary R. seem to think they are valued.

I think to a very great extent you get what you pay for.

I would say that your car is worth about $55K, is that far out of whack?

Honestly I really can not comment on what my car is worth. I've not researched the availability of SY C2S cars optioned like mine, mileage similar to mine and in my car's condition to be in a position to offer a meaningful opinion.

I can tell you when I decided I wanted a SY C2S and I found my car I bought it pretty much right away. It turned out that another person was interested in the car I bought. He is a Rennlister too. He contacted me after I bought the car and offered me top dollar but I didn’t sell. He did eventually find a SY C2S that met his requirements. I think he bought it last year but I don't recall anything about how much he paid.

If you like one of the cars RPM is selling and are willing to pay what he wants you should buy it. Now this is just my opinion but he seemed to have the nicest 993s when I was looking. When I found my car for a few thousand less than what RPM would have sold it for I went for it.

Now I don't mind paying a bit more to get exactly what I want but $21,000+ more? I DON'T think so...
are you looking for a c2s, or a TT? You mentioned you wanted a c2s on the 993 forum, and a TT on the 993TT forum.

Some cars price "out of book" (I work for a highline dealer, so I have experience with the pricing game) 993 C2S's are one example, especially the stick ones, if you watch the market over time, these cars have actually been going up in value over the last few years. You all I'm sure know why that is so I won't bore you with that.

Another such example is 2001+ BMW M Coupes (2001+ because thats when they got the 333 horse 6 out of the M3)

I've decided on either a C2S or a C4S, preferably in Speed Yellow, followed by silver, then black. Factory aero would be good also. I believe all I asked on the TT forum was about a TT conversion on a C2 I know about. That car is not being considered anymore..

rpm's prices don't seem that out of whack- or out of whack at all IMO....KBB is waaaayyyy off for pricing on pristing 993's.....from what I've seen- the 98' c2s's go for alot....why not talk to rpm about that yellow/black c2s with 20k....maybe you can get them down to a price you'll find fair...doesn't hurt to try...

I've been watching the market very closely for the last month and really don't see many cars selling at all. The dealers are all still holding the same inventory and less than 10% of those on ebay ever meet the reserve. So I'm really starting to wonder what the true market is for the widebodies. Anyone know of specific sales during the last month or so? Thanks, Mark

That sure is a legitimate question. With used cars, in this case a somewhat limited production vehicle it's going to be difficult to find comparable sales. You would need to compare all the variables that would effect a vehicles value, like how well it's been cared for, service history, condition, options, mileage and I'm sure other items too. I think the older a car is the harder it is to compare with other cars of the same type.

When I was looking at used cars I used the cars Ray at RPM was selling as the baseline for what I would call a super nice C2S. I figured Ray would probably knock off $1000 or $1500 ( just my guess) from his asking price. I figured if I could find the car I wanted for less than I'd have to pay for an RPM car I'd be ahead of the game.

I've seen that car in person... it's beautiful. I forgot to look what they were asking, but I'd guess $56k-$58K. I'd say reserve is over $55k.

Here's another I've seen in person and it's been in inventory for several months... it's also perfect from what I remember. Lower miles than the other, but black and a C2S.

Gary,

I went and saw the car you are talking about it was located in Shawnee, KS. I loved it beautiful car great condition. I was going to buy it but decided I had a turbo and wanted another. It sold though interesting story. The car was owned by a collector in Topeka he sold it to the guy in Shawnee. That guy had it 3 years then decided to sell it and put it on ebay and the guy the collector from Topeka moved to Ohio and saw it on ebay about 2 months ago and bought it back and said it was the nicest 993 he ever had. Beautiful car though I knew I should of bought it but holding for a turbo.

Corey
