WRX Sti v. 993 C4
Heading down the interstate to see my son I saw a WRX Sti jockying to get behind me. I decide to change lanes and drifted into the center lane to let him get by. He pulled up next to me with his new black on black Sti. He looked over to catch my eyes. I acknowledged him and remembered when I was his age with the same desire for speed. Did I say, I had dropped from 6th gear to to 4th and at about 4500rpm. I felt I was being transformed. My lower back got damp and my mouth dry. I know this was coming so even if the gray hair was telling me to let the kid pass by as I had originally intented the kid in me that had burned up clutch after clutch, would pull on the e-brake to feel the car go sideways woke up.
Pedal to the metal down : 125 ..................135........140....then the 993 warp speed was on us, but the Kid suddenly decided to get in front of me. I decided not to change lanes and let him decide that the car behind him had the need and desire to pass him. He should do the honorable thing and change lanes. When a car is travelling at high speeds in front of you it is a different rush; you feel the energy far more than going at it on your own or even when the car is next to you.
He finally did the right thing and at 145 let me pass him. Now, the C4 was roaring down the road and the only thing left was to make sure there was ample space between he and the C4 so he could never say I had a C4 and it was so close. The sixth gear beckoned to be employed for this endeavor. He could not keep up at 160ish.
My son told me that it was enough for him that he managed to keep up as long as he did and with many beers later he and his friends will enjoy the story more and more.

I can get the result of a 993/XXX encounter reading the stats in a car magazine.

Of course, only under controlled conditions like in our dreams or on the track. It would be irresponsible and dangerous to drive at highspeeds even if the autobauns allow such behavoir.

Hmmmm......
Altho I truly love my C4S (and all 993s..), I would guess that the WRXsti would eat you lunch, belch and disappear. The stats don't agree with your rendition of "the encounter".
But, hey.... I could be incorrect. The nearly decade old 993 may be faster than a new sti. Unless it's a 'clone' or wannabe. At 300 ponies in the sti the 993 better be a TT or you're toast, bro.
BTW...."black on black"? The seats in a sti are still blue/grey.... not black.
Enjoy'd your story... wish my 993 went 160ish. Right.
Cheers.
