Default An aggravating incident....

Parked my car Sunday night around 7 pm near my tennis club in town, come out 45 minutes later and I see the police near my car. A thief smashed the small window on the side up front and stole some cds I had in a small bag on the front seat. The alarm had gone off and someone from a neighboring apartment building saw a young guy breaking in. He called the police, and since my alarm went off, the guy hightailed it. I had a Tom Tom navigator on a HP ipaq which the guy did not take! My car was full of broken glass splinters! Luckily no other damage was done to the car.

Lesson I learned: never leave anything in sight in the car. Lock things away in the trunk up front....

Sorry to hear about this. I am a serious believer in much stricter punishment for theft.

Sorry to hear about the incident. It not a nice feeling, even for a small loss like this.

I guess you've learned the hard way - never leave anything (visible) in the car.

As I have been broken-into many times (S-10 pickup), and had stereos / personal effects taken, I know how it feels. Very sorry to hear this happening to you. Truly a feeling of being invaded..

Sorry to hear that happened, Phil, and am glad you didn't lose more possessions or, worse, the whole car.

I know someone who had the same thing happen and his insurance company ended up replacing the seats and a few other components due to damage to the leather by the glass. Good luck, like you needed this headache - look for ways to make lemonade out of lemons, he did.

Thanks guys. Just goes to show, even in "safe" Switzerland you have criminal elements. Guess I was really lucky it was only the small side window which got smashed and no other damage was done. The car will be fixed by Wednesday. It is just the bad feeling you have when some jerk does something bad to your car. And just for two CD's....

Phil, it could have been way worse. Sounds like an easy fix and not too much of a loss. Consider yourself lucky and a fairly cheap lesson learned. Alarms actually do serve some purpose after all.

The world if filled with sickos. There are animals out there that would actually kill you for less than those two CD's are worth. That is a very scary prospect. You'll be ahhhhight.

maybe a dumb question (if so, would be my first ever), but with the door locked, if you smash the small window, can you then open the door via the door handle? Or was he able to reach over the push the central lock button? Or did he simply pull the CD case thru the window?

The door was still shut and the locking light was flashing, so he must have pulled the CD case thru the window.
