Suggestions on car transporter please!!
I am considering buying a 914 in redondo Beach, CA and having it shipped to my home in Middelbury, IN for a project with my sons. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced transporter and is there any expectation of what the cost might be?? Thanks in advance for yourr help. I really enjoy being part of this board.

Probably the best is InterCity. A sponsor. Not the cheapest. I only have experience with them. If it is a project you might want to save some $$ by shipping it in a open transport. Maybe save BIG $$.
Enjoy the project.
Enjoy the project.

Where in Redondo is it? I live in the next city over, so if you need someone to check it out, then let me know.

Awesome service, competitive pricing, easily my choice if I did it again.

Thanks Rich I appreciate your offer. Let me dial in the shipping costs to know if it's practical then, if you wouldn't mind, I will take you up on your offer. It is supposed to be a stripped but rolling chassis wth almost no rust. Very rare in our area. My goal is to make it into a Ginther style track and autoX car that could eventually be turned into a sixer as all of our skill sets mature. I just can't bear to let my sons drive the 993 yet. Very selfish, but prudent I think.

When I sold my DP, my buyer hired Passport Transport to haul it from Indiana to Texas. The driver was very professional and new exactly how to load and secure it properly. Very impressed. Same driver and company that hauled the mid-year Corvette coupe on Chip Foose's Overhaulin Show. Unsure of costs, i believe they are tied to FedEX.

I would think the cost of using a transporter like Interstate, Concours, Passport, et. al will be more costly than the price of a rolling 914 stripped chassis with a little rust ... you need someone who's hauling cars on a flatbed or exposed carrier and coming your way anyway. You might even ask some of the dismantlers, like Oklahoma Foreign, etc., whom they use to bring them lightly damaged Porsches.

I have used Intercity 6 times and Horseless Carriage twice. They are both great, but HC is a bit more expensive and I didn't think it was worth the difference. Intercity did a great job and that's who I call anytime I need an auto transported

Ditto on Intercity. Shipped my 98 C2S from Boston to Blaine, Washington for $1,800.
Very professional, also helped load it on the car trailer I had rented, which was a real trick!

Another vote for Intercity, very professional drivers that care. On the other hand, AVOID Goldrush Transport. They damaged my Boxster and a friends 356, same driver.
