Default ?? "bilstein shocks recalled" as per call to shox.com

You may have seen my posts about wondering if it was smart to mix koni and bilstein and my decision to go with 4 bilstein.

Now as they seem to be impossible to get at the moment (everybody wants to sell them but none has them in stock), I asked the guy at shox.com if he could tell me why, he looked up his system and said they had shipped all of their stock back and they wouldn't have anything until may because of a recall...

Is it true? what should I do? (no koni, no bilstein, no money for pss9...)

Thanks,

Pierre

I was on the phone with Bilstein west last Friday talking about fixing the drop link mounts that tend to twist on the PSS9s and the HDs. They did not say anything about a recall, and I just got a set of HDs and PSS9s today for 2 cars in the shop. If I find anything out, I will post it.

I just spoke to Bilstein, and the rep that handles Porsche for the west coast. He knows nothing about any recall on PSS9s or any other shock for a Porsche. He says that it is bad information and not to worry.

BTW Pierre, I do stock PSS9s and installed 2 sets of them today. We do not sell as cheap as Shox, but we have them, we know how to install them and offer technical supprot to other shops that are installing them, and we modify the rear drop link mounts so that they do not turn and potentially twist the mount into the drive shaft. All services a "buy and ship" company can not provide.

Bob, anything specific on the HDs as far as modification. You know DIY, so I just went as tight as I could on those locking mounts. I'm getting it aligned tomorrow and will re-check after run it some to be safe but please let us know if its something needs to be addressed in back.
