Default Battery Tender + Closed hood?

Hi, I have a battery maintainer (Battery Minder?) and was wondering how you guys installed yours? Right now, I can't close the hood without damaging/creasing the weather striping. Any suggestions? Thanks

Why do you need the hood closed? If for security I can't help you. If it is because of the convenience light just remove it or pull the fuse.

The convenience light; I've been pulling the bulb, but it's a pain to remove it each time. Is there a better way?

I use my finger to push the latch down, so the ciruit thinks I have the hood closed.
Just be sure you release it before attempt to close the hoob.

otherwise, instead of removing the convenience hood light AND the ignition switch light, it is best to remove the fuse.

Forgot about the ignition light. Great idea with the latch!

I use a cigarette light adapter (Radio Shack) and plug my battery maintainer in there. No need to get under the hood.

Novice has the technique...it works as advertised. I'm not a novice as I've been doing the latch thing for 7 years now! You do have to open the hood and then go around and release the latch so you can close the hood.

Threw in a wire leading from the battery to the maintainer connection; runs out at the lower left corner of the trunk lid over the weathersealer. Closes just fine.

Be creative.

I was at Devek last Sat doing the HID DIY, when Ross showed me the simple, elegant hood latch solution. Of course, it was of no help yesterday when I left the lid open all night after bringing the groceries in.

I just purchased Porsche Battery Tender and it works great. I showed it to my neighbor who really has a garage queen that is in need of trickle charger and he promptly went to Walmart, yesterday, and purchased nearly identical plug-into-lighter-socket one or two amp tender for $19.00....urgh, I paid $70. It pays to look around. Just passing along the word here. No need to worry about the hood. Just leave window down slightly to accomodate charger wire to lighter.

Live and learn. eh!
Regards, Gary

Talking Great ideas are often simple....

I saw my mechanic do this to shut off the light to prevent a possible dead battery, etc. It also works on the trunk if you have a light back there.

"I use my finger to push the latch down, so the ciruit thinks I have the hood closed.Just be sure you release it before attempt to close the hood."

"When you hear hoof beats, look for horses, not zebras" This works throughout the world, with the exception of your local Zoo and parts of Africa.

I run mine through the drain hole under the spare tire. But then I also pulled the fuses for the linterior lights also. I had to drill the drain hole slightly larger to get my battery tender wire/plug through but it works well and I can close the hood without worrying about anything sticking out.

I just have to remember to disconnect it before pulling out
