Default PSS9s and H&R Sways Installed

Well finally got time to do the install. Mark ( RLer: Red) and I did it together last Saturday. The real story is, Mark installed and I helped. He has done installs on both 993 and 996 models. I could not have done it myself.
Took a bit of time, but I'm sooooo glad I was a part of the DIY. Learned a lot about my car in the process.
Left the car at Performance Imports today for Alignment, RH and corner balance.
Here are a few pics, all at the time of install, before driving: We set the RH at 25½ f and 25 r. Sadly I will have to raise it a bit because the spoiler scrapes getting into the garage.
Mark is the one holding the shock.

Congratulations Randy. Try driving up to the garage on a angle, or place a sheet of 3/4 ply down in front of the lip. Anything to keep that beautiful car down low where it belongs!

John. I'm really happy with the PSS9s. Thanks!!
I already have a piece of wood mounted to the driveway because the 911 is so low. The front spoiler is hitting on this car. I guess I could reinvent the wheel and change the wood somehow.
What is Euro ride height? RS?

My next project and I'm very much looking forward to it. Anyone in Nor-Cal that wants to come help is welcome, of course free beer and food will be offered, but only for the first ten.

Randy, car looks great!

I talked to the guys at the shop today and told them to set her up low and mean. I will fix the garage. Just could not bear the thought of, at the end of the day, all the work and semi-SUV RH.
I recommend anyone thinking about up grading their suspension to Do It Yourself. Feels real good. Ask Toga!

Paradise,

I have a 97 C2S and I am going ROW M030 w/ Bilstein Hds. What size sway bars to our cars have? What was your height (assuming it was stock) before the conversation? Thanks

I've had PSS9s and TRG bars sitting in my garage for almost two months now. Your post made me smile when I remembered that! The car looks great!

Don't know about Euro ride height but the Porsche statement is " front ride height is lowered by 30 mms and the rear by 40 mms". Further statement "the sway bars should be set at the mid setting for normal road use."

From the horse's mouth. If another EuroLister can pipe in with reg ride height... you got your numbers.

Randy, you'll love it... just wait til you hit your first DE!!

Monique. I dropped the front from 27" to 25½ (about 37mm) and the back from 26½ to 25" (again 37mm). The sways will be set stiff.

993Brendan. Do it!!! I had mine on the floor for about a month. Finally just made the time and got them on. Whew, glad its over. DIY. They are not really that difficult and the self satisfaction (braggin rights) is rewarding.

Right Dudley? I remmember your install post. Feels good, don't it?

Nice job!

Just to get the ball rolling, here are compared 993 ride heights I have stored from somewhere, probably from Viken (base height being US height):

1. M032 - USA/Canada ride height (this includes USA M030 Sport option)
2. M029 - Standard ROW ride height 20 mm lower front/10 mm lower rear
3. M033 - Lowered ROW ride height 30 mm lower all-around *
4. M030 - Sport ROW ride height 30 mm lower all-around
5. M002 - Carrera RS ride height 50 mm lower all-around

* M033 was standard on ROW Carrera S and 4S cars and M030 was an option which did not lower these two models. M033 was also an option on regular Carrera and Carrera 4 cars.
All above figures are approximate and vary from one vehicle to another.

This is just to compare them together, when setting up the ride height, you need to know the distanse between the suspension measuring point and ground.

That reminds me, measuring from fender is NOT the proper place to measure ride heights.
It should be measured from under the suspension.

Correct locations and measures are explained in shop manual, (anyone have picture on their computer?) , your alignment place know the proper location.
If they don't, take your car to somewhere else.

Thanks FF. That was the comparison I was looking for. I only have the measurements I took from my car before I started to use as a benchmark. Mine went down 37mm. 50mm lower, like Jean-Pierre's would almost be undriveable in this area.
I think this shop knows their $hit. Big into racing. Bob was lead mechanic for TRG racing team for 4 or 5 years. Now he is setting up his own team.

JP. WOW looks sooooo good and sooooo bad at that ride height. The color....well I do have an opinion about that....
