Question HOW to remove the cassette holder in center console?

I keep knocking my elbow against that goofy casette holder...How do you remove it and what does one put in its place? Whatever I put there, it must be FLAT because my arms are long. Thanks for your advice!

It just lifts out. there maybe some glue or something in it...but mine came out very easily. same way as the one in my 964 did.
check this out, nice replacement. no affiliation with auction.

make sure you get the little rubber insert that rests on the bottom of the replacement tray. as i recall, they are two separate parts.

Hello Super D,

if you need to take the whole console off: behind the casette holder take the rubber part off, then you`ll see a screw which holds the whole thing in place. Take the screw off and then it will be no problem anymore to take the console off. The casette part is hold with two noses in the frame - if you need to take it off let me know, so I will explain, too. If you`ll send me an email or pn I`ll send you a fitting instruction.

Ciao
Elke

One screw to get the tape holder out. It's in the bottom of the little storage tray. Lift up and back, as there are two tabs that slide under the console in the front.
As for the storage tray replacement, that e-Bay auction, after the conversion to US $, is more than the parts cost at a dealer.

All of the parts for the tray set-up cost me $20 at the dealer. In stock. Put one in my 964 and 993. You finally get a useful storage compartment.

You may want to buy another screw and retaining clip.

Easiest DIY project out there....

PJConner- do you have the part number for the tray?

I have a Bird armrest that came with my car. I love the storage, but find that it gets in the way too much, so I want to replace it.

If anyone wants to buy my armrest, send me a pm.

Thanks- Brendan

As stated above - don't forget the rubber mat. Part # is 964-552-121-00.
