Default 993 RS 3.8 Conversion

I'm interested in picking up a 993 and would like to do a RS 3.8 conversion. Has anyone done one of these before? Anything recommendations / things to look out for?

Regards,
Chris

If it was me... I would contact H & S in Telgte Germany and buy a US compliant car directly. I think the overall costs will exceed a Euro purchase and import.

H&S Hermanns & Schmitz Automobile GmbH

Talk to herr Schmidt. BTW the midnight blue one is very nice... saw it!

Several people here have done this. It is VERY expensive. Some say too expensive for the results. And they do occationaly blow up...

Curious as to why a 3.8 would be more prone to blowing up than a 3.6?

Your best bet is to ask Hank Cohen, his 993 RS is clone is very near the real thing (I don't know how much is not done but from pics & some of the details I know, I can't think of any).
Check www.-pcar.com for more.

Although Jean-Pierre's proposal sounds even better, hmm... when is that euro-dollar rate gonna change?

There's a guy in Texas who specializes in importing European P Cars, Steve Patti. I've heard about him on other forums and from what I've heard, a pretty good guy. Here's his website - http://www.euro-rs.com/

(No affiliation, no other knowledge than heresay, etc...)

The guy in Texas imports through H& S in Telgte, Germany.

Like I said... save yourself some dough... buy it original!!! Worth lots more at the end too.

The alu doors alone are worth the price... don't waste your time.

Looks like Steve has a 993 RSCS for sale, but offered at 110k usd. not exactly inexpensive.
I wonder what my insurance agent would say? LOL.
thanks for that link to Steve's sight....very impressive.

The Carrera RS (normal, lightweight, clubsport and Cup) does not normally have aluminum doors. Does yours have them? They do have an aluminum hood however.

I have done the conversion. They are not prone to blow up. It's your wallet that blows up. It's a very nice conversion and all of the parts are available from Porsche, starting with the 3.8 Power Kit. For some pix of the finished car (recently sold), see my website: www.ParabolicaMotorsports.com

Lee,
I noticed you have a SY GT3. How does the GT3 compare to your "RS conversion"? I'm just curious as I also have a SY GT3.

I did it on my previous car. Would not do it again. Price/performance ratio not very good.

Just buy a real RS! I'm "close" to have the same performance as a real RS on my C2 and I've invested already 37.000$ in mods. :surrender:
