Default strut brace install

Hey guys bought a strut brace for my 1996 c2, it is the one from porsche. It came with out instructions and the diy on pcar.com was not activated. So my questions are
1) what should i torque the bolts to that hold it on the shock towers
2)Some people have mentioned about preloading the brace, how much and do you mean and is it in or outward?

PS I finally joined this site but when I posted the other day it still does not show that I am a member, I guess it takes some time

1. KLAindustries.net says to tighten to 20 lb-ft, which sounds about right to me since I know you don't want to torque it too much.

2. AFAIK you don't really want to preload the bar much. KLA says to just take up the slack, which makes sense to me. I installed my bar in slight compression, but not much.

1. Be VERY careful torquing the nuts - the studs are easily snapped. I believe the factory rec is 30#, but most here have used 16-18. I did mine to 18 in a few steps.
2. Preload 1/2 turn of the bar outward (i.e., lengthening the bar to push the towers apart).
PS, yes, it takes some time. John's got his day job that sometimes gets in the way of Rennlist.

BTW, a quick search & you'd have found that #1 & #2 have been answered (many times) in the past. E.g.,

I have an AJUSA bar and torqued mine to 18 lbs/ft which was plenty. I learned my lesson the hard way on a previous P-car.

I followed Dan's expert advice and installed mine (AJUSA bar) a couple of days ago. Everything worked perfectly and it tightened up the front very nicely. Thanks.
