Help...strut bar install mishap
You guessed it, snapped the top of a strut tower bolt off trying to be thorough and torque the nuts to 20 ft/lbs.
(seemed like such a simple job, just too much coffee this AM!).
The nut never snugged up, just turned until it popped. I was planning on a track day next weekend, too.
I'm guessing I may have stretched the other 3 a bit, too.
Options for a simple fix? Anyone been down this road?
Is now the time to spring for the PSS-9 kit since I'm likely to need an alignment and some labor to fix this?
(Robin--tried to call you earlier today.)
TIA,
Chris C.

Sorry to hear of your troubles,.....these sorts of things are no fun at all.
While I've not had the "pleasure" of this experience personally, some folks have brought their cars in here for us to deal with it,...

FWIW, we've either simply drilled a hole and replaced it with a bolt and nut or drilled it slightly oversize and installed a Nutsert.
In either case, its a solid repair and solution.
Now,......LOL,..there is not better time to put in the PSS-9's and larger adjustable swaybars.

What a difference!
What a coincidence, I did exactly the same thing myself some months ago. I spoke to Gert in Belgium and took the following action:
(1) I went on a trackday that I had booked with just 3 bolts, absolutely no problems at all.
(2) When I returned I set to work drilling out the bolt in question, a real SOB of a job that took a couple of hours. Replaced it with a plain M8?? bolt and hey presto, bobs your uncle. Four track days later and still as good as new. If you can salvage the original nut with the yellow and red paint then you can use it again and no one will ever know, unless they look very closely.
BTW I currently have the PSS9 and RS anti roll bars on order form Gert and will hopefully have them fitted before the end of the month.
Regards
Do I need to worry about camber adjustment or a full alignment?
Steve UK: I don't have an uncle named Bob,
but I'd be very interested in some more details about your bolt replacement (e-mail me direct if you prefer). Thanks guys!

You will indeed, need to set the ride height, rake, cornerweight, and a full alignment when these components are installed. Make sure that the kinematic toe as well as the static rear toe is checked and corrected, if needed. This is VERY important to the 993's handling!
