Default Strut tower brace @ AJUSA...any good?

Noticed the sale...is the unit any good? How easy is it to install?

I have one and it does it's job just fine. It's diameter is a lot thicker than most too. On a DIY scale from 1-10, 10 being the most difficult, this is a 2 at most. All you have to do is unscrew/tighten 4 nuts.

Only caution when installing is to be sure not to overtorque the nuts. Those studs are rather fragile and I have read of some that have snapped.

Yes, I agree with Kim. You do not want to torque them any more than 18 lbs/ft. On a previous 944, I stripped the bolts when overtightening but was fortunate to have been able to re-thread them.

Had one on my RSA---simple to install, and a very solid piece.

I'll have to agree. Easy to install and adjust. Beefy. Low profile and looks good. And on sale, the price is very good.

I was interested in buying the AJUSA brace also and sorry I don't mean to hijack...but after the strut brace is mounted on the towers, what kind of adjustment do you need? Thanks.

The bar is threaded with lockrings, so you can pre-tension (pre-compress?) the bar a little bit.

What do you mean by "pre-tension"? Do you mean turn it out to 'spread' the towers or turn it in to 'contract' the towers? Thanks Chip!

Jason - a 1/2 turn OUT from "snug" should do it. The bar is to prevent the towers from flexing in (towards the center of the car). As said, watch the torque for the mounting nuts.
