CDR220 before/after faceplate upgrade
Got a CDR 220 off eBay (from 2001 996) to replace the aged CR1 tape deck.
The 2nd picture is after I upgraded the faceplate (from Becker) for better 993 viewing....in both pictures, the radio is ON.......what a difference! Yes, K-Whale is "Alaska's Rock".....is that ZZ-Top playing...again? AK

BTW, did you wind up selling your phone center console or did you decide to hang on to it?

Did you notice a noticeable increase in sound quality with the 220? I have the HI-FI option and considering the CDR220 also. I have the DSP Option and wonder if a new deck will improve the sound or not.

I don't think changing the head unit alone is going to make much of a difference in sound quality......but it looks a hell of a lot better than the original. I placed new speakers all around (still had original and blown Nokias) and the sound is now much better in my car.
Contact Becker of NA. Here is their info BECKER

John:
It's still a single CD, only difference I know of is that the CDR220 has an Aux Input so you could hook up an IPOD. Other than that, everything is cosmetic. Was wondering if the CDR220 had a better or more power amp but souunds like it doesn't.

CayenneAK,
Sorry if I wasn't clear with my question. Wasn't disputing your choice -- an excellent upgrade. I just wanted to know what the differences were between the 220 and 210 like I have. I have seen 210 owners upgrading to the 220 and wanted to understand why. I see now it's the aux input and ability to run Phatbox.
