I just read the entire thread for the 2nd time. I don't see a fix. I know that you need to replace the face on the CDR-220 for the 993. I didn't think that was necessary for the CDR-210. I was under the impression this had to do with viewing angle for the LCD. Is this an illumintation issue? In other words, I can see the display find under daylight conditions. At night, I need to turn on the interior light if I want to see the display.

sorry, i misread your post too then. as far as i know, this is an issue w/ 220's. if your 210 isn't lit up at night, it might be a case of a bad wire/connection. 210 came stock on 993's right?

It was not stock on the 1995. 1995 still had the CR-1. I hope this isn't the issue. I have already gotten over the fact I won't be able to have the speed adjusted volume. If I have to go through a hastle to get illumination, I am going to be irritated. I don't understand unless the unit itself is broken.

Give Becker a call at 888 423-3537. They can give you the answers you're looking for.

Marc - what speakers did you go with? Do they fit in the factory mounts?

I changed to Alpine - 6CD changer from the Becker version - now at last I have a rotary volume **** for accurate ajustment (instead of that stupid up/down set of buttons) that I can do whilst driving and the CD doesnt jump with every bump I hit.
Changed all the speakers after awhile too - great improvement.
The only irritation now is the car is right hand drive and the radios are designed for left hand drive with the volume control on the left - its a stretch when using the volume and trying to drive.
What a releif not to have the aweful - never the right volume - automatic speed related volume adjustment that you cant adjust or switch off!
Major upgrade to the sound overall.
Oh! and one of the best outcomes was massively improved VHF reception.

p.29 of the CDR 210 manual describes 4 volume increase settings from OFF to the maximum volume increase.
