Default Motorsound airbox pattern

Has anyone noticed that the hole pattern for the motorsound airbox is imprinted on the inside of a regular lid? Just noticed it while looking at the lid at a certain angle today. Just for those who might want to drill out there stock lid.

Yup, the small pattern for the small holes is inside the cover. I think the best results are from 3/4" holes on a wider spacing. The sound is a lot more robust!

Yeah, check the pic I posted last week. I progressively drilled until I got the sound I like.

Unhappy

are you guys saying that the factory motorsound option has holes in the airbox similar to what has been posted by DIYers here? Cos I thought one of my options was the motorsound package and I ain't got no holes....

Motorsound package consists of:

- airbox cover with a silver air inlet and many small holes
- polished exhaust tips (stock otherwise)

Can achieve same or better results by self-drilling stock airbox (but without the underhood bling of a chrome air inlet).

Perhaps your motorsound was too loud for previous owner, and was replaced wit stock cover? It's really not that much of a difference though.

The full Motorsound option (#159) included different mufflers w/Motorsound tips. The MS mufflers produce a noticeably different sound. The tips are a different shape than stock.

IIRC I have the silver air inlet, and no holes. My pipes are rectangular-ish with rounded corners. That sound like motorsound replaced by std box?

Paul,

All motorsound lids had holes. If you have the silver inlet, maybe the PO changed just that, It is just a snap-in piece anyway. It is hard to remove but can be done without altering the lid.

Thanks. I'm eager to check my option codes and inspect the airbox when I get home.
