Default C2S Split Grill

I am interested in adding a C2S Split Grill to my Polar Silver 1995 993 C2 and I am considering the following options:

Purchase the three piece kit from Gert and paint to match.
Purchase an existing bolt on C2S split grill and paint to match.
Purchase an existing C2S split grill and paint silver or black to contrast.

I am looking for opinions on the pros and cons of each approach and perhaps some photo shop assistance on how the silver or black grill option might look.

Thanks!

Default install grill

Funny you should ask! As I reply to your post I am in the middle of installing a Gert Grill on my NB polar silver. I had the grill painted when I had a Turbo bumper installed ( added 100 dollars to the tab) When you read that removing the old grill is a major PTA believe it! I see grills that seem to have been removed on E-Bay and I have no Idea how the hell they did it! Mine came off in 10 pieces and 3 hours of pulling and screaming. I am replacing it with Black Silicone instead of the German glue. You can see that I have covered all the painted areas in order to protect the paint. Good luck ..need to run and glue the second side.

Good eyes..Mr_Bock....not only is it the Kitchen, but in the corner is a Roll-away (stainless steel) where the Dinning room table should be! Just a sign of the times with Home prices these days. Flower on the lid not my Idea!

I just showed my wife the toolbox/flower setup....... She said not in a million years.
I told her the tools would be easier to reach when I park the 993 in the living room.

Hmmm! Thinking of removing my grille to repaint the spoiler.

One suggestion is to use dental floss to cut through the German glue. I would like to save the grille.. they are about $100.

Where did you get "silicone black"??

Painting the grill in seal grey would add a nice contrast with polar silver I think.

In the US black silicone adhesive is available at Home Depot among other places...I used this instead of the clear stuff for securing stainless steel mesh grills onto my turbo bumper.

FWIW, Kelly has had a hard time matching his Polar silver paint on his chin spoilers...I like the idea of the seal grey or a black grill insert with the silver around the edge--also would be not as noticeable if the paint shop can't match the polar on the whole grill.

Good luck, and please provide pics when you're done!

Thank you all for your input and ideas. I am leaning toward painting the split grill in a contrasting color (black or bright silver) to the Polar Silver body. Does anyone have the skills in Photo Shop to provide an artistic rendering?

Nope...didn't get a chance before leaving LA...but should be easy for someone to photoshop...just some simple silver mesh. I may pull it and go with black mesh instead...good think project was cheap...$15 for the mesh and $5 for silicone adhesive.

Ted, either the picture in your post is my car or there are two of us who have a silver stencil with the PCA membership on the rear window. Based on the reflection of the basketball goal on the right side of the rear window I would say there is high probability that that is my car. I dont care I'm just curious if I sent this to you somewhere along the way. Mick
