**Chicago Get-Together Saturday ,June 28?**

I saw the post on the 964 board, I'll try to make it too, work permitting. I'll be the one in the 911 with the headlights not shaved back.
Hope you'll wait up for me in my 964 at the stops.

OK, it's time to get some feedback on routes or meeting locations for our little soirée. I've had a couple of suggestions but would like to hear more....
Anybody have any ideas for interesting roads/meeting places/destinations for our group? To recap, we need a place to meet for coffee/light breakfast and hang out for a 90 minutes or so to allow for varied arrival times and to check out our cars, then a (hopefully scenic) drive of 45-75 minutes, ending at a lunch destination.
If any participants (or any current or former Chicagoans) have any suggestions, please post here or shoot me an email.
Thanks!

I vote for Lake Shore Drive with an extended stop in front of Lori's Shoes (or any Lincoln Park boutique)....oh wait, maybe not if the Captain is coming.....

How about a dyno day at the newly rennovated PorschExchange in Highland Park? I know Eric arranged one back in April (sorry, I had a confict) but I thought folks might be interested ... especially if finding a suitable route proves challenging.

I think some Chicago area PCA folks just went to the dyno last week at Automekanika in Spring Grove. Ed Kowbel would be happy to have some p-cars back again. 815-675-1326

OK folks, it's been a while since we last talked about this event, but all things come to those who wait. Believe it or not...yes...finally...
***WE HAVE A PLAN!***
Any and all Chicago-area 993 and 964 rennlisters and their invited guests (translation: Porsche owners, fans, and families) will meet on Saturday, June 28th to assign faces to names, ogle each other's Porsches and share some of our mutual enthusiasm about these cars.
Brian and Steven at Willow Automotive in Lake Bluff, IL have generously agreed to open up the shop and provide an initial gathering spot for our group. In case our own cars get boring, there should be some interesting ones in the showroom at Willow, including Ferraris, BMWs and of course a Porsche or two. (List member ScottK's new-to-him '95 green coupe is on its way down to him in Phoenix, so the showroom's Porsche count is one car lower. Congrats again, Scott!)
Willow is right on Highway 41 and is pretty easy to get to from anywhere in the area, especially given the light traffic on a Saturday morning. See www.willowauto.com for directions.
The feedback I have gotten so far is that folks want this to be a low-key event that has some timing flexibility, so here is the schedule:
8:30-10:30 AM: Meet at Willow Automotive for coffee, bagels, mutual (car) admiration and Porsche talk. Arrive early or arrive late, just arrive somewhere in this time frame.
10:30 AM: Depart for scenic drive to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin area. NOTE: We will be taking country roads selected for their scenery and driving appeal, NOT following the lemmings on the usual routes to WI. We have excellent intelligence from bikers (motorized and pedal-powered) for route selection.
11:30 AM: Arrive at Lake Geneva area restaurant. Enjoy a lunch with our fellow Porsche addicts, then head "home" after lunch either with the group or on your own schedule.
That's it, a simple plan but will be fun! And the whole thing will be over by 1 PM or so, so there will be plenty of day left for other stuff. Thanks again to Flying Finn and the Florida 993ers for the basic game plan and good suggestions.
If the weather looks terrible the day before we will figure out a rain date, otherwise we'll stick to the 28th.
We do need a head count for coffee/bagels, etc. in the morning and restaurant plans for lunch. Please post here, or email me, to confirm your attendance.
Time to get out from behind the computer and meet your fellow rennlisters! See you there!

Seljan, I sent you an email. You--and any restaurant suggestions you might have--would be most welcome.
And I can't speak for anybody else, but I am a Dolphins fan!

Bob,
Being originally from Buffalo, NY (Bills country), Dolphins are persona non grata
I'm also still interested; would be fun to meet other enthusiasts with (obviously) much more Porsche knowledge than me!
Unfortunately I'm on call the weekend of the 28th so I may not be able to drive all the way to Lake Geneva.

Jeff, should your beeper go off in Lake Geneva, not to worry. Just pass me the keys to Seljan's turbo. I guarantee that you'll either get back in time for your call or be so grateful to get out of the car that you won't care you're late.
Seriously, we look forward to your joining us for as much time as you can spare. Will enjoy seeing your RSA!
