Easy with the engine out!

If someone needs pictures from another specific part, just ask!

Mike how old was your car when you replaced the wires? I'm tempted to do it as my engine is out, but I'm stopped by the price!

Mike;

I would surely check ALL of the HT cables before springing for coils.

You can do that with a spray bottle filled with water and then misted over all of the plug wires and coil wires in a dark area (with the engine running, of course). Increases in corona will show any electrical leakage and what needs replacement.

Thanks Steve, I will check that out! I know a couple of the HT cables are not in the best shape (the ones on the lower bank) so I will start with those. Too bad you can't order each cable separately....the upper ones look new.

Cheers,

Mike

You can order each individual cable separately and you can also order just the end connectors. Porsche also has 6" insulating sleeves for each end of the wire to prevent that lovely blue electrical discharge.
Have you checked the resistance of the ignition coils with a multimeter? Do you have access to an oscilloscope?
