Smile Effect on the fairer sex

I asked my wife what she thought of our "new to us" 993 the other day...

Here is what she said:

"... You have had a lot of Porsche's Michael, and you have nonchalantly let them come & go... I never bothered to say much about all that in the past, but I have a news flash for you now Michael... When & if you ever get ready to sell off this one, your going to have a fight on your hands, because this one is a keeper..."

Hey guys, I thought that was a pretty stout statement, as we have had a very nice lineup of early & late model Porsche's (Parade concours winners & all). She really truly likes this 993.

Anyhow... To add to the story...

I overhear her talking to an out of town girlfriend of hers. She goes on to tell this friend: "...Michael pulled away from the house in his 993 and I by chance caught a glimpse as he left the driveway... The car is so visually stunning that it brought tears to my eyes as he drove off... I am tearing up just thinking about it now..."

Gulp. Well, obviously I was floored.

As of now she has her own set of keys.

Talking

Phil,

Well, if the truth will be known Phil... Those statements from my wife were "with aforementioned wing" still on the car (now your wing).

Could be a problem if we ever park next to you. As long as you stay on your side of the US, and I stay on mine, I may live happily ever after

I will never live down selling that wing I tell ya.

Well I’m jealous. That’s not quite what happens in my home. I recently tried to get approval for a harness bar and harnesses, using the ‘safety’ argument. Supposed to be an easy argument to win, right?

“But people don’t die at those events you go to, right?”

(Sheesh, how am I supposed to answer this? Yes, people die? Yeah, right.)

“Ummmm, wellll, nooooooo”

“And you wouldn’t go if you could die, right?”

(Stuck again)

“Besides, if there was a chance you could die, I wouldn’t let you go.”

(Insert sound bite of a whip cracking here)

Tell her you need a place to mount your video camera and the roll cage is the only safe place.
Or that you want to put in more seatbelts.
because your lap and shoulder are sore after a day at the track.
Maybe one of these ideas might just work.
But don't listen to me, I've never been married.

Tom,

Is your wife a lawyer? Sounds like she'd do great cross-examining someone.

Michael B,

There's a couple of things I just HAVE to ask.

1. What color is your new (to you) 993? I don't think I've ever seen it.
2. Do you have any performance mods planned? (OK, silly question -- let me rephrase that: What performance mods do you have planned?

When it comes to discussions like that, every wife is a lawyer ... just ask any husband

Aw man, now I know why I'm not married. I just don't have what it takes to successfully cross-examine anyone. Well, maybe I should enroll in a semester at law school!

Melissa... What color you ask??? You mean there are colors other then Guards Red? Are you saying I had a choice? For some reason the only 911's I ever look at are Guards Red these days. I promise you that it was never that way until I bought that Guards Red turbo... I can't see any other color for a 911 now. Wild 'eh? I was such a "white 911" person before I owned a red one. I even use to make fun of the Porsche people WITH red ones! Now I am the one that I make fun of!

Anyhow... It is Guards Red w/ Cashmere. Just like the C2 Turbo (my neighbors don't even think I changed cars). I originally was going to buy a $10K early 911... I missed it though, and found a 1990 C2 show car I was going to make a move on (along w/ several other candidates). But then a bud told me about this 993... You know the rest of the story. Oh well, its only money (right?).

"...2. Do you have any performance mods planned? (OK, silly question -- let me rephrase that: What performance mods do you have planned)?.."

Ha ha. Your awesome. Actually, the BIG PLAN is a set of MR. ROBIN SUN's RSR mufflers! He is a class act, and I want his touch on my car too. No matter who I talk to about 993's, his name always comes up (all good). That was good enough for me.

The car already has a set of H&R springs on it (I can't believe how nice it feels & looks in all ways), however I do have a few additional thoughts on the "look" of the car I may implement soon. Overall though, I think I will be doing very little "mods wise" to this very capable version of the 911 platform.

I am honered that you (my favorite topic starter) asked.

Thank you!

PS. If you can see it... Here is a small pic of the "911" doing its best "H&R lizard" impression:

Where did you find a wife like that?! She's a keeper too

How much your car is lowered? Look like Porsche should look like, not like the school bus original suspension...

CAUTION - Waaaaaaay OT. Please skip this post if you are sensitive to any of its ingredients.

Melissa
It is a female genetically linked trait - you already have it. Although it may be slowly developed through training (e.g., law school or a police academy), it is more frequently instantly awakened by the taste of one's own wedding cake.

All of course tongue in cheek (in case my wife sees this)
